absolute, rubbish, unless the car has been stripped out totally...

im sure some other draggers off here will back me up, shrimpy, adamR , come on tell them im not wrong.

Are we talking race fuel, slicks etc for the 13.5 run ?

Or just simple pump gas (us) petrol(uk) :d and stock tyres.

If you guys want to post your slips with 60' and 1/8th mark numbers I can probably tell you why you didn't run a 13 second pass.

I have personally run a 13.2 with only 10psi of boost(stock is 9psi). Here's proof:

I wish I could edit my posts here. Anyway, with a 2.0 60' you can tell the car had much more in it. But technically you can not call my car "stock" at the time because I had intercoolers and test pipes. But the boost levels were very similar to stock. So it was probably making slightly more power than stock.

No it IS possible!!! Problem with this country is the strips have virtually no grip with street tyres. Stick some drag tyres on, and you'll see 13s EASY (if you can drive of course). This is how they do it in the states ;)

An off topic question for Mac1: I noticed you have pentroof exhaust manifolds right? How long have you had them on your car? Any cracking problems?

Thanks.

Theyre on the engine but im not sure if the engine is back in the car yet.

My quickest time is 13.4s@107mph but I didnt get split times, this was on a grippy aircraft runway with no weight saving

Next quickest is at "mirror finish" Santa Pod 13.517s@106.23, with a 60ft time of 2.30s. If I really nail it off the line the wheels will spin so I guess slicks would help loads.

Its an auto, running 12.5psi

Well, 13.51 with a 2.3 60' has lots of potential. Every tenth off the 60' is two tenths off your elapsed time. So even a flat 2.0 would've been a 12 second pass for that car.

Yes street tires are not good enough for traction. Some of us drive with Mickey Thompson ET Street tires. Most people prefer drag radials though because they are stickier than street tires and you can still drive on them with no problems, only downfall is shorter lifespan of tires because they are so sticky.

mmmmmm Iconel manifolds, Im going to plump for some of these now Smithy can get them :)

Im surprised at the stock bottom end tho, all stock pistons, rods, bearings and watnot? :S

I missed your post earlier. Yes stock bottom end can hold a lot of power just fine. I've had my motor at this power level for about three years now. You just have to make sure the car is tuned for whatever fuel octane you run.

It's a real eye opener isn't it :).

Ok when I've finished the work on my car I'm getting some slicks put on a crappy set of 18's  :hyper: then I'm going to the strip

LOL. Its really tough to get any traction off the line with 18" wheels. That's because with 18" wheels you have very short sidewalls on the tires, so they have to be stiff. To get traction from a stop, you need as much sidewall as possible so that the tire can "wrinkle" and absorb the shock. Although BFGoodrich is making some 18" drag radials now that I've heard really good things about. Some Corvettes are pulling 1.6-1.7 60' times with them which sounds impossible from that short of a widewall. Anyway, I just went the easy route and stuck with stock wheels so running I have plenty of sidewall.

Even I knew that Stu;) stick some stock rear wheels back on I am;)

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I didn't, im a bit thick tho at times, lol.

I always thought it was the width of the rubber on the back, and then just let a bit of air out so the tyres give a little on the tarmac, then again it makes sense I guess just having massive soft tyre walls that give.

Im off to buy back some stock rims lol ;)
