Was driving up the M40 today following 2 very nice Lamborghini Diablo SV's when the one in front of me starts smoking from underneath the car. Both of them pulled over, I did the same and jumped out with my trusty fire extinguisher in hand. Turns out it wasn't a fire but a massive oil leak onto either the manifold or the exhaust which was causing the smoke (and horrid smell ...) I waited with them until a low loader showed up to take the poorly Lambo home. Now, I normally have problems getting my non-lowered Z onto one of those things and was fearing the worst for the Lambo's front spoiler when ... at the push of a button in the cabin the front was raised by about 2"! :o Aparently this is what was fitted as standard to a lot of these Lambo's! Am now going to get onto the Lambo dealer to find out what system it is and how many of my internal organs I need to sell to get it fitted to a Z.

Not a particulary interesting story but thought I would share ... ;)

Cheers!

Danny

i wish they had 12" lift at each corner at the push of a button life would be so pleasent instead i have to fear my 99spec f/bumper each and everytime it goes on the ramps, maybe you could get them and do a group buy

Had the same problem this morning when the transporter came to take my car up to notthingham for bodywork, not to fussed about the old spoiler that was on there as it's having a new '99 spec one fitted. Think I'll be picking it up in person!!

Let us know if you have any luck with the lambo dealer, would love to get something like that fitted!!!!

AFAIK air shock kits are about 500.00 but not many suppliers in this country, as well as the shocks you need to buy the compressor, air tank and all the accessories to go with it which could be about another 500.00

Not sure how long the tanks last tho :(

I'm aware of those air shock kits but (a) they can severely compromise the handling characteristics (b) there is probably not enough space in the Z to fit the required hardware and © the ones on the Lambos are normal shocks. I've been in touch with two dealers and a specialist garage and none of them know what I'm on about. One said it was something that was fitted on some of the California bound Lambo's only as they have a lot of dips (gutters) where two roads meet ... How these two UK Lambos got them is beyond me at the moment. Should have kept the guy's number ...

Stay tuned!

The hardware for an air susp kit is actually not much compared to the ice installs most people have ;)

I'm still going for air shocks, the yanks are big on that anyway.

I can't see how it could have been done any other way without hydrallics or air susp? the fact it was electrically operated by the touch of the button and that it happened istantly instead of being motorised proves that it was a pressured system?

Even if there is another device other than these type of shocks, it would still have to off been installed in a similar way from the wishbone to the chasis or it wouldnt have just lifted the front, so their lambos may handle like shit anyway :D

Let us know if you find out more!

p.s. I've come up with a cheaper way, just strap two long wooden planks to the bottom of the Z :D

Is it not the same system F1 cars use?

It's like an air/hydraulic ram rod that comes out under the car and pushes it up.

Nothing to do with the suspension.

Try fitting a couple of electric aerials upside down under the car ;) :D

Just don't fit the electric arials off a Z ;)

Could be I guess?

NM maybe dan will find out and put all the speculation to rest, Z aerials and all ;)

i woudent want to work under the car with electric aerials propin it up due to the fact my aerials go up and down when they want.all 1 1/2 tons sitting on ya face.
