Did anyone get pictures/video of my Thor dyno at Billing?

I meant to give my camera to someone to take some pics and a small vid but I forgot in the excitement LOL

I hope nobody filmed the panic when I couldn't find the locking wheelnut key that the MOT guy lost under the passenger seat

If you can mail them to chris.carter at orange.net it would be much appreciated

I'm on broadband so doesn't matter if they are on the large side.

396 at the wheels @ 13psi

Needs the timing sorting to get the boost up a bit further.

396 rwhp @ 13psi?! With all the best will in the world... it's GOTTA be wrrrrooooonnnnnnggggggg! (with a little bit of added resonance, just for effect).

OK. If I suspend disbelief for a sec, Chris - what's been done to make so much power at such low boost?

Erm, he built it properly? :D:D:D

LOL

Well Gary wotshisname went on the day before and got 303 at the wheels I think.

Have a look at the spec I've got on the link in my sig.

Believe me, it is VERY VERY fast now - I've driven enough Z's to know.

Simple answer to that.......Mapped by Lymon

......Pete must have been busy then eh?  ;)

& even better is the power curve keeps climbing at the end of the rev range, get rid of that det & run higher boost & theres a lot more potential power to be had :)

Thats because the turbos are still quite happily supplying air to the engine and not goin into surge ;) Also back pressure is far less at higher revs. Chris, have a play with the VTC release point - move it further up the revs and you'll probably have even higher torque ;)

Si,

Any chance you would consider going on the Rollers at Thor. I would really love to see what the difference is between the rollers that SE use and the dyno that thor have. Apart from the Wheel BHP and Hub BHP of course.

So ChrisC has the most powerfull Z on the forum without Nos?

Is the VTC point just a single value in the ECU?

If so I can easily change it.

I was really impressed with the Zemulator that Lymon used.

I was tempted to get one before but when I saw him adjusting the fueling and timing in real time it makes me think I just have to have one.

You can tweak things and hear the engine change and run better without having to write a chip with guessed values and go try it, only to find it's worse than before.

I've got the S-AFC II installed so Thor were able to adjust the fueling in the car and made big improvements on the dyno.

These adjustments can easily be incorporated into the chip and the controller reset to zero values so the chip becomes more accurately mapped every time.

With Lymon sorting out the general running problems and Thor adjusting it for power, it made a huge difference.

I drove away with about 70bhp more than when I arrived!

I also learned from both Peter R and Lymon that a twin pop is almost impossible to map accurately with a single MAF at low revs because the voltage is so low you can't make small enough changes to the other settings.

They both said it will always be lumpy at idle and the only way to eliminate it is to use the S-AFC and 2 MAF's.

Wish I had a video of it running flat out :hyper:

when are we going to see some tuning companies running dry ice and shrouded blowers at the front of the car you must be fretting with just 2 puny blowers like that supplying the air did they put any dry ice there at all for cooling

Wait a few weeks until I've finished coding and you can have the same functionallity for free :D

It is pretty pathetic. You would have thought this would be a priority to them really as it helps protect their customers cars. Or is it a case of signing a disclaimer before it goes on the rollers?.

You really are one clever fella John :)

It was just those 2 fans on their own.

We were all saying there should be at least 3 fans as on a Z you can't get a good blast of air at the rad and 2 intercoolers with just 2 fans.

It was scorching hot on saturday but luckily by sunday it was much cooler.

I'll definately be interested in your new gadget JD ;)

now that the green meany is no more im now caught between yours and paulg's as the best z ever these days the silver colour is swaying me buy im really liking the lines of pauls...any chance you can spray ures silver mr g so i can have a definate favourite

I'll post it on here when it's done.

Best fan setup I've seen is AVA in glasgow. A Huge centrifugal fan hidden outside blasts air at 80mph through a slot about 6 feet by 1 foot. You can adjust the height of the outlet. Honestly you can barely walk in front of it. Must be a realistic simulation of road conditions. Have got a thermocouple to put in my TB soon, so can measure charge temp. Be interesting to compare dyno / road.

You really are one clever fella John :)

Here, Here, and thank god for people like John because all those readouts just send me to sleep I just don't think i could ever stay awake long enough to learn this stuff. Then I've have to put up with a stock Z. Rock on Johnny

Chris, is it easier to steer with a Keyboard? ;)
