If you was a fast car get the TT, its amazing how much faster it is.

yeah think i will go for TT too many dick heads around here with sti, and supras who need a shock, they will wonder what it is thats just blown them off

Ooo eeer, blown them off ???????? perhaps it would be wiser to say blown them away ...

There has been another thread related to this where people have said TTs are the only way to go, NAs are crap, and a couple of people have given a more balanced view. Here's my 2p worth.

I bought an NA as it was the best quality car by far with the lowest milage (although I realise low milage is not necessarily good). I immediately regretted not waiting for a good TT. Insurance for me (33 yrs old, with a heavy claim so no no claims) would have been the same, from the quotes I recieved.

My NA has been VERY reliable- nothing big gone wrong, nice clean engine, lovely interior and I have loved driving it. I have put on an exhaust, induction and chipped ECU and I am 'happy' with the performance. It is a manual SWB, which I was desperate for- I would not have considered an auto. Since then I would agree with people who say not an auto NA, but auto TT is OK. I have driven/owned an auto Soarer twin turbo since and found it fun to drive not having to mess with the gears, but with the NA it allows me to sit in third and really make the car work. (and it sounds great).

It goes pretty fast. I think the 0-60 is a little under 7.4. I have become used to driving the car and have pushed it a little harder than I did at first, and find the performance good. BUT... it is not as fast as a TT. I need to work the car hard to overtake fast. It needs to be pushed up over 5 to 6 thousand rpm to really get it going, and it does NOT kick you in the back like a TT when it goes on boost. There are too many other 'normal' cars with similar performance, or better.

It IS fun when its pushed, it has been reliable and I made the trade-off with my particular car for low milage, clean car, and manual transmission and SWB. I should have bought 2+2, but fell in love with the two-seater- so now the kid can't get in it- (blessing or curswe, you decide) I have owned it for a year and I would now find it VERY hard to part with, but if I 'had my time over again' I would buy a TT. I'm hopefully getting a bike to fulfill my need for speed- eventually something with a 3.5 second 0-60 so I can trounce TT drivers, but when I do that I will probably have to let my NA go.

Get a car you are REALLY happy with. Drive it and ask yourself if you are REALLY happy with it. If there is a flicker of doubt about performance then don't buy an NA. Insurance isn't a big thing, if you are out of nappies- I dont' really think reliability is a big thing if the car has been maintained properly. You have to be happy with the car, and once you have one you might get too attached to it to let it go whether it's a TT or an NA!

Sorry for droning on- that's my experience as an NA driver for the past year. I would go for performance as long as it's a nicely looked after car.

Like you say...personal choice...when in doubt....don't...

Me...a TT...every time...but then I am older with no claims....it does help!!
