Just had a before and after dyno run at Thor with my new ECU. I posted the graphs in the Dyno forum. He said 182 at the wheels with the stock ECU and 190 at the wheels with the chipped ECU. Is this OK? What should I do next??

And nobody say buy a TT. I have agonised long and hard over NA/TT but I have enjoyed doing the little bits to the car that I have so far. OK it might not be huge power, but I have noticed the differences as I got the exhaust, induction and now ECU and I feel quite proud of it.

it looks like a nice car, i think a good compromise owuld be to stick a twin turbo lump in it ;)

Are new headers very expensive and/or difficult to fit? Would it be a lot of money for not much in return? New flywheel?

I am ignoring comments along the lines of superchargers and twin turbo engines.

...try a Ctech 3000 catalyst injection system. It puts the platinum into the fuel air mix and they say can increase bhp by about 10%. It'll cost you about £90 and it lasts for about 30k miles.

I've one fitted to my NA. It's not a simple job, in fact I'm going to change the way it's fitted (the vacumn ports arn't close enough to the throttle housings). It's like using Optimax all of the time... They sell it on more miles to the gallon. It's an increase in power which if you don't use the increase in power equates to better mpg...

...some people think it's witchcraft...

Only you can decide. But lets say their claims are not fully founded, lets say 5% increase, it's still a bargain...

Think the web address is ctech3000.co.uk

Good luck - and when you want to sell your car, give me first refusal. And have you seen the metalic green SWB on Autotrader - sounds like a very nice car...

Nos!

rich 190 at the wheels is pretty good mate, the NA was only meant to be 220 at the crank when brand new.

Speak to chrissy c about the NA headers ;)

I have an N/A too.

I think if you fit a TT engine, you have to upgrade loads more than the engine itself.

I reckon NOS could be the way forward. Or leave it as it is!

I am well pleased with 190. I took the car out later (before I went off to Scotland for the week and had to leave it behind). It definately is better all through the rev range. It feels a lot faster and I seem to have more power much lower. I am very happy with the difference and will probably not do too much more - probably too much outlay for deminishing returns. There is a real diference and although I was a bit sceptical about whether I should bother I definately think it was worth it. I think the dyno was a good idea too. I was wary of taking it, but it is nice to have a good idea of what power the car is producing.

I have never been a NOS fan and wouldn't go down that road. Putting in a TT engine is too much- just to much, although one of the guys at Thor was talking about putting a V8 from a Lexus into another car and although I think transplanting an engine is a great way to customise the car to the level of a fanatic I guess it is for a dedicated mechanic or maniac- with all the problems it would probably cause. I would like to take a car like mine and completely change it but being able to say you had stuck with the car and made it totally unique, like putting in a totally new engine, but it's totally impractical unless you are loaded or skilled or totally dedicated to the cause.

Ideally (as I've said before) I'd like the NA AND a TT for different driving fun, but can't afford two, and I like my SWB too much. As has been posted a little while ago by a TT driver ( ;) ) an NA is great fun, just different.

Rich, you're probably right in terms of dim returns getting any more go out of it...

But you can still make it more drivable - things like flywheel, brakes, suspension, weight reduction, weight reduction, weight reduction...

(No rear seats and no targas is a good head start there!)
