It was on last night and I can't see any sign of a repeat tonight. There was some good stuff on it last night too. ;)

Wasn't that last night?

Oh God where am I!!

Please tell me it's on again and I'm not in a time warp..............

Yeah that was last night.

He only had 3 laps to practise and he got quite a good time. The rest of the programme was not that interesting though.

sorry guys im always a day behind it was in yesterdays paper doh  :D

They actually came up with some very interesting statistics.

A normal intercity train, even if it was full, burns more fuel than if every person drove their own car to the destination.

Also these new 200mph trains actually burn more fuel per person than a Jumbo Jet.

Did they give the source? I thought this was bobbins at the time he said it, and I still think so...

The study compared rail (and air) fuel economy per seat, to a VW Passat diesel, a couple of links to newspaper stories:

I think that if they'd have used a Z in the study, they'd have a damn good argument for travelling everywhere by space shuttle...

Cor... interesting reading... have to email me mate about it (works at Lancaster University and is in local Green Party)

I guess cars have got a LOT better - think TDi 130 compared to yer dad's knackered Pug 309. Trains have got lardier (but more comfortable - you can actually get useful work done on a Pendolino now)

You also have to add a taxi ride at each end to the train journey - which is the worst kind of car journey you can make - a short one!

Of course this is on a 200 mile journey at most... and planes use shedloads of fuel on turnaround compared to the cruising part of the journey. Conversely Passats will be poo on a run to the shops and back.

So I take it all back, I'm convinced, and I will be shoving this report up our operations manager's office in the near future. :D
