Two candidates have come forward for the position of Club Secretary. Voting is now open to full (subscribed) members of the Club. The poll will run from the 12th July and end on the 23rd July at midnight. The successful candidate will be announced in time for Billing and the AGM.
Here are their statements (in cronological order of receipt) of why they feel that they are suitable for the role:
Hugh Mcginty (Jock)
I would like to apply for the post of Secretary of the 300zx club. My application is no comment on the most recent inhabitant who I think (despite our differences of opinion) did a difficult job well. The one thing I would try to bring to the club is clarity, we (myself included) need to be clear what the club is about and the way forward, we need to clarify what is permissible on the board and what is not (which will hopefully remove the need for infighting in which the moderators are seen as the bad guys). I am not advocating that the members have a direct input to the running of the club or access to all decisions, that is what the commitee is for, but there must be accountability. If a decision is made, then the decision should be made known to the members and the reason for it given. There have already been moves made toward this with the edit messages on posts and with statements made, but I think that level of accountability should be across the board. There should be a mechanism outside of the public forum whereby a member can ask a question and recieve a suitable reply.
In addition to the above I feel that I have time to give to the forum (due to my work pattern), hopefully the imagination to bring new ideas, the sense of humour to take it on the chin when I make mistakes (as I am sure I will) and the pragmatism to accept that you will not please everyone all the time.
I will close by saying that I do not believe that the club system is wrong, I think it needs tweaking, then hopefully we can get back to the fun and useful forum that we all want.
regards
Hugh aka Jock

I am writing to you in response the position of Club Secretary that has recently become available.
Firstly I would just like to say that to replace Mark is a big step. I feel that he has done a great deal for the club and has always been professional with his approach.
I fully agree with the committees's aims and goals and feel that I can only strengthen the team further to achieve our objectives quicker.
I feel, the secretary's responsibilities are well within my grasp.
