Before I start, Harvey is considered the best ZX mechanic in NZ by many...

I am totally lost with my Z.

A rebuilt trans, airflow meter, new plugs, injectors cleaned, virtually an engine rebuild by Harvey misc plugs sensors etc changed and over $9000 spent by the warranty company,. $1500 spent by me, and my car is worse than when I started.

No blame on Harvey here folks, he's done a great job on the engine and is an A1 mechanic, but right now I have so much conflicting info I am just about ready to smash this S&*t heap car to pieces.

It hesitates under acceleration and the revs surge and fall, surge and fall.....and Fuel consumption is at an all time low went from 450k per tank to about 300 frown.gif

Harvey says the electrics are fine, engine is good (and I agree), 2 Trans places say the Trans is fine (hmmm), whats left? I cant keep flushing money away on this car. My warranty company says 'one step at a time'...F%^K that, if I had my way I'd get Harvey to strip it to bare metal and build it back from there. But I have been without my car for almost two mths now.

What should I do guys? Ditch it? Sell it for whatever I can get? this ZX has cost over $20,000 now and still in my opinion is less reliable and less fun to drive than the 91 Celica I was driving before it. Don't get me wrong I really love the car and I salute Harvey for doing a great job and putting up with my complaining, The car is off to the guys who built the Trans to get it checked, if they say it is fine, what do I do? start replacing light bulbs?

Sorry to hear about your problems mate.

There are many things that can go wrong.

It sounds like you've got problems with the air-fuel ratio.

Maybe there's an air leak in the intake system.

Did you try to "blow up the motor"?

I'm serious here...

Check out the Tech-section of my home page for some tips.

Good luck!
