Hi

Changed the discs and pads on my mk1 mondeo last night, what an arse of a job.

They were well and truly seized on for some reason  I had to use an angle grinder in the end (after having tried a sledge hammer, a huuuge axe lol and a crowbar to try and remove them) and cut the fookers in half till they freed up  Then smash them off with a lump hammer.

Took me the whole evening

Whats the most PITA job you've done thats supposed to be easy?

Cheers

Pete

Replacing the bulbs in the high level brake light on the Z

One of the bolts had corroded and was stuck solid, mashed the head :( I had a spare light so I broke the old one off, only to be left with a big lump of plastic around the bolt and I still couldnt get anywhere near it! ended up blow torching the F****r. burning off the lump of plastic then taking the bolt out with a pair of pliers

2min job I told the missus... 1.5hrs later she's still standing tapping her feet waiting to go to shops

I did that same job at Billing last year and Cos had a magical screwdriver which removed it, when none of mine would work lol.

I think the water gets under there and rusts the screws, bad design

trying to fit a very thick power wire from the engine bay into the cabin to run an amp. Had to take the battery out and drill through the bulkhead, very tight to get my large drill in, five drill bits later, a scratch on my wing (bas%*rd) and a lot of swearing the job was done. also just trying to get the damn thing to run properly, still isnt!!!!

Took me the whole evening

Cough........I think someone else was there......cough.

Had the same problem on my Xantia. Exteme violence was required !

Both the stupid little screws holding the discs in place had seized, refused to budge with the impact driver and had to be drilled out, then the discs had seized to the hubs which took major input from the lump hammer to shift. Dunno how much damage I did to the bearings !
