Other than that, we are a better team going forward than we are defending. Some of the defending tonight was appalling and Neville and Cole hardly got up the wings at all!

maybe they didn't get up the wings but cole certainly kept ronaldo at bay for most of the match.

 

As for beckham 60% good player 40% hype! needs to get his head out of his ass! he ponces around too much nowadays.

 

Mind u to be fair he has been playing in the centre for Real Madrid most of the season.

i made a few predictions before the start of the tournament and so far 75% have been right.

 

i said that Holland and Italy were outsiders to win it.

 

Germany would be knocked out at group stages and that england wouldn't make it to the semi's.

Absolutely. I couldn't see us scoring once they equalised. Obviously we did (in our one attack!), and the ref bottled it, but Portugal still deserved to win.

Not at all. I think if we'd carried on playing the way we did in the first few minutes, we would have won easily. Instead, we sat back once we got ahead, as we did against France, and lost again. The manager is the problem, not the team.

2 things wrong with that game appart from that ref.

did u actually watch the above matches ?! We outplayed France except for 1 bad back pass. We shud have beat Portugal but were cheated.

Yeah right. Yes, the ref cost us last night, but Portugal were the better team overall.

Yes, but if you just sit back and let the other team come at you, they're going to get a decent shot in eventually and that's what Postiga did.

Err Cole? or Vassell? I thought Cole did well, with the exception of a couple of dangerous free kicks he gave away. I thought Vassell was awful.

Cole was v. good.

Beckham was cr@p - needs to play with his feet on the ground - and leave penalties to someone else.

you cant blame him for that penalty...did you see the state of the spot?!?!

 

he was unlucky to take the first one, all the players after him learned from his mistake and made sure to not lose their footing and stamped down the turf. he did have a pretty quiet game though unfortunately

he's missed 2 before that tho' - he's not the best penalty taker of the side, but takes them cos he wants to be the hero ATEOTD.

well the one against france was a good save by the keeper IMHO, and wasn't the miss before that cos he slipped aswell?

 

i agree he's not the best penalty taker, but whether he takes them cos he's taking the resposibility for doing something with a lot of pressure on and feels its his role as captain or if its cos he wants to look a hero is a matter of opinion. maybe after three misses he should allow someone else to take them so lets wait and see how he reacts

if you rightly reckon the ref had a 'mare then beckham had one for

90 minutes plus extra time plus a terrible penalty

 

the one reason why he should be blamed is that ALL the players knew about the dodgy penalty spot, as they had been practising kicks and complained

because players had slipped the night before

 

so if sven and the ref can be blamed, why can't the players? who get paid a LOT more than either of the other two
