Can anyone help, im stupid.....

I've downloaded some tracks that are in MP3 format, and copied them onto CD to play in the Z.

Trouble is the CD wont playback, makes no noise not even a squeek.

I use Nero 5 and followed the wizard, do i have to do something to change the format from MP3 to CDA so my player in the car can read it? Nero says it does this automatically ??

Any tips please :)

Cheers

when you drag the tracks accross from the window on the right (mp3s) it should convert them when you drag them to the copying window on the left?? try looking in the settings

Mike

you need to use the wizard m8

select the audio option, highlight the album you want (get it to the right hand side) then drag all to the left hand side, and then burn

if you only have one drive? you will need to drag the folder/album to your desktop

wow that was quick cheers lol ,

I did drag them to the left and burnt? them at 48X.

Does the speed make a difference? Im gonna try again on 20X.

The player in the Z is a ... oh fu** ive forgot the name

did you selct the audio cd option m8?

otherwise they will still be mp3s,

and yes sometimes speed does make a difference, burn data etc at max

audio 24x and below

Yeah i did select audio CD,

so the slower the speed the better the quality?

My Z CD is an Alpine ( i remembered! ), maybe quite old i dunno, has a 3 disc changer on the face.

Try burning one at 2x, that should prove if burn-speed is an issue.

Also, make sure you use "disc-at-once".

Failing all the above which is good advice - it may be the discs you are using - try them in another unit to check - or buy some branded discs and try one of those - it can be a bit of trial and error with some units as to what they will read. Plus, the burner can cause problems, have you got the latest firmware for your drive?

& upgrade your version of Nero! If you need a key for 'evaluation purposes', gimme a shout ;)

Not all CD Rom units are CD-R / CD-RW compatiable. Have you got the manual, it should tell you in the spec list.

It depends on wether you want the CD to be an MP3 CD or CD Audio.

If you want MP3 CD coz your car head unit plays them, then choose Data and simply copy the mp3s.

If you want Audio then select AUDIO CD on the wiz and then Nero will convert the MP3s on the fly to Track files (sort of hidden Wav file) Bare in mind that MP3s are far higher in compression so were 500 mp3 may only take up 640mb for example when converted back to wav they will take up Gigs so usual about 12 tracks.

As for speed its more down to the quolity of the disc. I write at 52x and have never had a problem.

Hope thats not to techy for you!

Dave.

Thanks everyone,

I've tried them in my other car and they play fine, so it's the Alpine in the Z that must be too old :-(
