I'm looking to buy a RPS clutch for my 200sx S14 thats running just under 300bhp. What are your oppinions on them and what sort of power do they take? as i am undecided whether to get the Sport Street or Puk. The street is listed at 280lb/ft and the puk 340lb/ft.

 

Any views would be appreciated :)

iv got the sport street in my zed running 400bhp. its a very nice clutch with a stock like feel.

 

the street disc is more drivable & wears better than the puck version, which will obviously hold more power.

Street here too, v happy with it. I had a Max before and that really was a pain in the bum - on/off, but the Street is minty. (I think all puck clutches will be grabby... it's the nature of the beast.)

 

If the 200 is anything like the Z you'll need to adjust the biting point to near the bottom to stop it slipping at peak torque, but that's OK. (And depends on your peak torque figure too... :D )

I've got a puk, it's more like a switch than a clutch. Also the bite point drifts about, which is bloody annoying. RPS supplied a free slave cylinder which was supposed to cure the problem. It made it better but didn't cure it.

Ive got a street from smithy, its not installed yet, but if you hang on two weeks ill be able to tell you :)

The street version of the sport is virtually a stock feel, only 2 out of over 100 supllied said it was marginally heavier than stock. The street version of the MAX series is noticeably heavier than stock, but not a lot approx 20%.

If you fit the 6 Puck version of any of these types or even ACT for that matter and yes driving is not so easy as they really paddle clutches simply either off or on and this makes em heavier again.

For some one like Nismo Mark, then the Max series Street disc version is best suited, as it will take a lot more power that he wants, is a disc not a 6 puck and being disc does not wear as quick as 6 pucks do or cost as much to replace when the time comes.

Replacement discs for street versions run at 80 quid, whereas 6 puck replacement discs run at 155 quid, hence why i don't reccomend 6 pucks unless they really want em for cost, heaviness, quicker wearing and replacement part costs wether it be RPS, ACT ETC
