Next the ole chap wants advice on an induction kit. Blitz / HKS ? I say.

 

Nope I want an induction kit that will give me 20BHP gain over standard. Fuck me I say YOUR HAVING A LAUGH.

"I have been told that this particular induction kit will give me 20bhp gain and can bee backed up by rolling road figures."

I don`t want to mention the suppliers of this particular kit.

Calibrate the Rolling Road me thinkZ.

 

Upon my reaction to this my customer seemed a little shocked.

Methinks new turbos and bigger injectors not possible unless you take out a spark plug then run her up on the rolling road see what she is pushing out. Then fit induction kit and when no one is looking refit sparkplug!!!

BlitZ I've just ordered from J. himself should give about 10-12 increase...according to the Official BlitZ write-up. Then there are the comments on testing from the various tuning mags that promote it even further.

 

10-12bhp on a Scoobie mind, with 2-3bhp loss of bhp with air temp. rising but good news...that only happens at standstill! Don't think you need alot of BHP when you're parked do ya? LMAO!

Here's the spec on the JWT single POP Charger claiming a typical 18bhp increase on stock....

 

POP-Charger air filters are designed for maximum air flow by using a 6" diameter venturi surrounded by an oiled gauze filter element.

 

The filter element is reusable after cleaning and reapplying filter oil. Horsepower increases from 4 HP on non-turbos to 18 HP on the 300ZXTT are typical. Available for most late-model Nissans.

 

That's basically a K&N right. And that's the single POP one. So with a dual and a ram air system, then who's to say another design may not be slightly better.

There are two types of dual itake....

 

The real JWT type where each bank of cyclinders is fed by it's own K&N type filter and the T piece is removed.

 

OR

 

The type in question 'above' where dual filters are attached to the stock T piece and the air is still split two ways.

 

Whether the increase is 5, 10, 15 or 20bhp, the overall % increase on stock is minimal

I`m afraid I will show my arse and take my cap off (AGAIN).

 

Typically you would expect a realistic figure of anywhere from 4 to maybe 8bhp.

Obvoiusly each manufacturer will claim that their kit will produce the most etc.

You will find that if you pick up any specialist performance mag and ring any tuning company except maybe the ones which make such claims, you will get the same answer. Beleive me.

Shit, just read that me BlitZ has arse filtration, not as bad as the HKS but not good either...hang on a sec. will ya? Just thinking about whether I give a shit!..............

Oh and by the way, for all you guyZ that are running with the K&N's etc. you might wanna check out the fact that the oil can pass through the filter and cause havoc with the MAF as it starts to coat the tubing walls over time! Eventually making its way to the engine, so I don't think it makes any difference really.

 

Same old same old!!! You wanna fast car, you gain power and a cheesy grin but lose in another area. Usually reliablility etc. etc. etc.

 

Fuck it! I just want my Z to go faster, which right now isn't that difficult...ROFL!
