Absolutely gutted :( Just shunted the zed.

I went into the back of someone on the motorway today, the usual palava, everybody suddenly brakes for some unknown reason  further up the queue and I got caught out. Couldnt go left or right as there was a car alongside me and the central reserve on the other side. Hit the cars left hand rear, my right side front.

I'll post some pictures up later when my camera has charged with a plea for advice :)

Reckon its repairable but I dont need this :( It still drives, after I freed up the LHS intake hoses. Will need new bumper, headlight, foglight, wing, bonnet, and some work on the cross member above the headlight, and what ever else I find. :( I'm gutted.

Told my insurance to sort the other car out and I'll fix/sell/break mine :( depending on the money involved.

Cheers

Pete

Dave that would be great - on Pete's behalf ;)

Because he don't have access to a multi million pound development/fabrication plant?

Shame ! :p

Shame ! :p

Tis rather init :D

Sorry to hear about that mate, least you're ok!!

I know Duffer offered you one, but got a stock bumper and fogs/indicator sat at PPS, sure we could sort something out. I think they're in good nick, but are currently silver.

On another note, I do roughly 350 motorway miles (not loads I know) each week, and in my experience sudden motorway breaking is most often caused by motorists seeing (or thinking thinking they have seen) a "safety" camera van or traffic car on a bridge. I don't know what this national obsession is with parking on bloody motorway bridges, but it really p1sses me off!!! It'd be interesting to know the number of people put in Pete's position by some tw4t deciding to eat his sandwiches on the local motorway bridge. It should be an offence - and scamera vans should be stopped from doing the same. I know all the arguments about keeping your distance etc., but it is impossible to maintain a safe distance 100% of the time given the level of lane discipline adhered to in this country. You leave a gap, someone will fill it, and you end up constantly backing off. Sorry for the hijack - rant over ... for now!

Ouch

Hope you dont loose it mate

Hi Pete

Listen it only metal and that can be staightened and so far you've had half a car donated. So here's my contribution as well.

I've just bought a Red bonnet in mint nick of Johnny a grasshopper. I was going to luvre it and paint it the fastes colour which of course is blue, but if you want it and Duffers will let me have the gray one then its yours.

At this rate you'll be back on the road before me :D

Right, been outside and taken out the remnants of the headlight, looks like I was q lucky with regards to structure.

The collision was at a height just above the line of the bumper, so only the bumper brackets and crossmembers around the headlight are bent. And the vertical brace under the headlight panel is fine. Also the inner wing seems ok.

I think the intercooler hard pipes are probably bent as the tops are sitting further back than they're supposed to.

The metal under the headlamp is untouched too. You can see the collision sort of sliced the car just above the bumper. The bonnet's not too clever tho

Cheers

Pete

Bad news Pete, I know how i felt when i hit mine, glad to hear its just panel damage though, as opposed to mine being a twisted chassis!!!

More importantly, glad to hear no-one was hurt.
