Got to say I pressure washed mine and had no problems! but I coated all connectors and electrics in wd40 and then wrapped them with stretch film and taped it all up before spray gunking the engine and jet washing it,

OK this isnt true steam clean, but its not as risky and with gunk its probably as good.

Sorry Herman - Teh he he - someone had to

by the way wheres my car stickers you rogue!

No way! Mate of mine years ago used to have his Beamer 325i valeted all the time. So he decides this one time to push the boat out and have the engine bay steam cleaned, yeah it looked nice but his car ran like a dog for a few days after. He said he'd never have that done again, too many electrics under there that do not like moisture! FACT! ;)

I wouldn't steam clean any engine (anymore!). Too many bad experiences ;) :)

Even now with having most of the electrics removed I would still not steam clean it ;)

I mean it looks fantastic, clean and well tidy. Even better without all the scaby electrics. Really like that Paul Bailey (I think) timing cover.

Had a mate many years ago who used to have his Beamer 325i D plater valeted regularly. One time he decided to go the whole hog and have the engine bay steam cleaned...oh yeah baby that MO FO was sparklin' clean and looked brand spankin' new but did his car run like a bag of sh1te for nearly a week after? Oh yes indeedy it did! NEVER ever steam clean a cars engine bay with all that electrical malarkey going down under that mutha f\/ckin' bonnet designed to keep the moisture well and truly out. Schamone!!! ;)

Could there also be the possibility of putting a crack in the metal case of one of the turbos if you have not let it cool down enough when the steam condenses into water?

Yeah, keep it dry baby !

i wouldn't but the damn garage i brought it off did TWICE... im sure that had something to do with it conking out on me the next day!!!!

Yeah, keep it dry baby !

Did you ever sell your car mate? I was away from the forum for quite a while .. just wondering.
