Hope you don't worry about fuel economy? Wrong car for that. You can get about 24mpg at about 85 ish. However, you'll get that down to low teens driving it like god intended.

i did 230 miles to a tank of optimax yesterday £50

that must be a record i normally get about 160

steve

not worried bout mpg at all just curious thats all :)

thanx for the replys;)

I drive some motorway but mostly A/B roads and have a bit of fun with it.

I always get 19mpg on optimax.

do Z's have trip computers or are u using pen and paper to work that out ? (or a seperate unit?)

I am trying to work out my MPG but to make things easier can someone please tell me how many litres the Zed fuel tank as I can't remember how many litres I usually out in when I fill her up from empty?

Justin

I think it's a 60 litre tank.

I get about 50 litres from near empty.

I got 320 miles from my very first tank in my 300! Almost all gentle motorway miles in the wet! That was about 30mpg and near what I could get driving my S13 200SX gently.

Mine in a non-turbo though. (that's the lighter, therefore better handling and more reliable model)

30mpg

ive never had a car that dose anywhere near that

for the last 10 years its either been a v6 of some sort

or a turbo or two

or both

its a 72 litre tank.

Rubbish, I did a 1/4 mile then drove for 10 miles all with the petrol light on, then filled up with just under 60litres yesterday, dunno where this 72litre info comes from

Says so in the service manual. It also says so in my hand book. It also says so in the stats.

Because the light was on doesnt mean the tank was completely empty. I have driven 30 miles with the light on. The pump does not reach right to the bottom of the tank so you will NEVER completely empty it.

LOL So it'll fit 72 litres but you can only use say 65?

Basically yeah.

The closest I have come to what the book says and what you can use is my Corsa. 55 litre tank and I have put in 54.77 litres in

LOL Well come to think of it my mondeo Haynes manual says 59litres and I've had 61 in before. Maybe it's a petrol pump scam ;)

its a 72 litre tank.[/quote

Cheers for that Stu, I can now work out how thirtsy my beast is.

Being manual I have to beat you auto boys in economy surely!

I've wondered about that, which is more economical? Autos are usually in the highest possible gear when cruising so thats gotta help the fuel economy?

About 145 miles from £50-£55 of Optimax on mine....have to plan journeys carefully :)

It's fine on the motorway though!

Mine is a Manual :D

Pete,

I think the hand book says manuals are better at MPG, but I think its only 1mpg or something. Most probably because of the heavier box on am auto

average around 20mpg

I did a motorway run up to thor racing, I averaged 14mpg over a distance on 176 miles.

Not necessarily - if you're driving well under peak torque the engine won't be at the most efficient. 1500 revs in 5th is actually a no-no! Since you have one less gear to choose from...

Mind you auto engines/tubs have more torque and less power, so to speak, so that probably helps economy a bit.

Apparently it uses less fuel if you accelerate quite hard to the desired speed in one gear and then change into the cruising gear. I can sort of see that might give you a smaller area under the curve. I quite often go from 2nd to 4th in the Z because getting there in 2nd is so much more fun than using 3rd. :D

Autos definitely have much higher drivetrain losses in urban driving!
