had some suggestions from some of you (andy in particular) that my stalling at standstill prob could be dirty throttle bodies etc. had the car looked at and they were pretty dirty, but also, the exhaust wasn't operating properly...seems to have started choking the car because they're going to shit inside! i never noticed because i've only pottered around in it recently. the car guy i took it to has recommended replacing the exhausts with a mongoose system....anyone know if that's the correct choice?

hi i suppose its all down to your own taste, i had a mongoose on my gti-r and it was very good, nice note and a good power increase,

have you tryed replacing your PCV's they used to cause mine to stall all the time until replaced.

LOL

When I saw the title of your post

"small tick over prob nearly resolved! "

I was going to tell you can get special shampoos for that problem

hi pauliezx, the pcvs are small valves that sit on the under side of each plenum, you can see them and just about get to them for removel.

they have a small spring inside and alllow the plenums to breath (i think) oil gets passed through them and become clogged over a period of time, most people on here change them weather there faulty or not (just in case). I belevie they either clogg up and stay shut causing pressure to build up and causes the engine to stall upon braking.

when bying the pcv valves get the two hoses aswell, for both and hoses i think i paid about £70 from nissan, sorry i car'nt find the part numbers, some one will know them on here, or try searching through old posts under Pcv, there will be the part numbers there, look on the online manual and you'll see where the pcvs are.

hope this helps a little mate,

regards

jim
