New to Z's need help!

Have just bought an 90/91 uk Z tottaly standard 72k car and I have a few question! My car is really gutsy- 120 miles 40 quid of fuel is this excessive or can any body suggest a known problem? I need rear shocks whats good and AVAILABLE!? I want new wheels and need advice on sizes etc 18" is on the shopping list? Are the gubbins behind the inner wing splash guards important as one of mine is leaking, can they be bypassed or what are they? Sorry to go on guys but I really like my Z and love cars I am a time served technician and will hopefully be of some use to this forum tech wise MOT etc. one last thing excess wear rear rack can it be adjusted or does anyone have a good s/hand one?

Hello ZAZ,

I can't really help you here, but just to say welcome and I'm certain the guys on here can answer everything!!!!!

On the fuel, can't say how much your paying for petrol, but a full tank does around 200-225 miles.

Vijay

Cheers Vijay, how much fuel does a full tank hold?

£10 of fuel gets me about 30 mile but I have had an ecu remap. 18s are a good choice in rubber, and you will probably find that the play in the rear is balljoint and steering arms.

I get about 150-180 miles of £30. It depends on how much you put your foot down. I pay 79.9 for Optimax which I feel makes a difference. All I can think of is that you have a petrol leak some where. Does it smell of petrol slightly when you first start up. Some Z do and its the fuel pipe either loose or rotting and needs replacing.

Dont worry about asking questions, we all have done it.

Welcome to the Dark side. Khuuuuuuuur Phuuuuuuur. Khuuuuuur Phuuuuuur.

Yes play is at end of arms at rack can they be adjusted up or is it replace only. I have read a few web sites now and get the impression Z's are difficult to buy wheels for is it an offset problem? 8x18 all round 265/35x18 rr 245/35x18 ft is what I have been offered by my man will these sizes fit?

And yes....... I have felt the force! lol I have to admit I am v.impressed with the support and commitment this car seems to have over the net, no noses in air stuck up unhelpful dudes....yet

Welcome to the Zark Side mate.

And yes get 18's, they allow you to go round corners faster LOL.

Can I just say Glenn, that you car has the best kit on that I have seen. Very jealous man

At the moment I have got 8.5 all round but its a bit narrow for rear gona get 10s for rear very soon. you will struggle to get 265/35/18 on a 8" give wheel mania a call on 01216888844 they will give you good advice on offsets, and yes balljoint replace only

ZAZ - Welcome to the world of the Zed. I too am new to this game. Only purchased my beast a few weeks ago. You will find that a lot of the guys on this site eat, sleep and drink Zed, and are only too happy to help smile.gif) Ask anything about the car and these guys will have the answers!!!! Good luck.

yes senna your car looks the dogs nads.but i am still the pimp daddy LOL!

10"... under standard arches, coooool! 265's Mac or bigger? I have to say some of the pics of cars I have seen are mind blowing!

You can get 10s under standard arches on 265 but offset must be correct. but I am getting the wide arch kit in the next few weeks 285/35/18

Hi ZAZ and welcome!

18" are easy to damage....that's what I heared...and rubber on 18" is very expensive... it could be not very practical unless you do Track Days now and then....

Also... I think the dials are calibrated on 16" wheels....so you may have some ERROR in MPH on your dials with bigger wheels

About the Petrol...of course each of us has different mods I guess...(mine still standard thought!)...

I think this car should do around 20 MPG...

well just my 2p of help smile.gif....

have good time with your Z.....and see you soon at some meeting or track day!

Welcome to the PleaZure Dome...welllccccoooommmmeeeeee!!! Haaa haaa hhaaaaaa haaaaaaaa!!!

Life goes on day after day after day after day etc. etc.
