what a waste of money - a 200SX itself shud cost less than £4.5k

Yes but some people have spent £40k - 60K+ on their 200s (god help them), so if that's the case another 4.5k really isn't an issue is it.

it is an auction, and they are only guide prices but i would have thought that 200 SXF would be worth quite a bit more that £400 just because it is an ageless plate. you can't get much in any style for under £250

vanity plates are useless no matter how valuable the car IMHO. They serve NO purpose, other than to say "look, I have money to burn and hope you will be impressed"

My 300 came with one, but I wouldn't have bought one myself.

i wouldn't say that a plate that refernces the make/model of the car, especially if you are an enthusiast, is a "vanity" plate. yes, they are arguably pointless but no more than clear side-repeaters or '99 spec rear lights. i can't see anything wrong with someone who is driving around in a g-reg car that they have spent £000's on wanting to put people off the fact that it is getting on for 14 years old.

you do see some terrible vanity plates around though: i've seen someone driving around in a big 4x4 with uk garage pumping out of the balcked-out windows and the registration P 1 AYA

i have also seen a ferrari with BEG 41 T rearranged to BEG 4 1T. pretty naff but you csan get away with it on a ferrari

I agree, well I could be tempted with one of the cheapy £250 ones, something like J200 JDP.

Vanity plates are particularly sad when they are cheap ones with and made to look expensive with creative use of spacing and yellow and balck screw caps. That's very sad.

Donna's SX, :D ,she wants £1000 for the number ;)

Edited due to me geting price wrong
