Plenum water hose removal

I've removed all the rubber hoses as I'm bypassing them all.

Now it's all in bits I can't quite work out where the metal lines under the plenum go to.

Can I remove them both?

I think they are mainly water pipes but there's a couple of vacuum type ones there that I'm not sure if I can easily bypass.

Chris.

I'm having one of mine bypassed at the moment - Phil at C&S Wood is doing it but its fiddly I think there is one pipe that runs under the plenum - I think its metal, then to a rubber hose, then into another metal pipe - I'm ahving the length changed into a rubber hose. I dont kow if you can bypass that as Phil hasnt menthioned it as an option and I reckon he would have done if only to say its not a good idea....

Chris,

From memory, the lines under the plenum are the coolant send / returns to the throttles. These can be removed and the feeds to them put straight on to the turbo sends.

There is a vacuum gallery on the RHS at the side - this is the vacuum and atmospheric line to the EGR / AIV solenoids (off RHS throttle body and RHS turbo inlet). This can be junked if you remove those systems.

I can't think what vacuum lines might be under the plenum. There is a 3mm line off the LHS throttle body that goes to to carbon cannister - again that can be removed if you junk that.

If you can describe roughly where they go or show a pic I might be able to tell better.

Basically if you remove all the emmissions stuff you end up with very few vacuum hoses:

2x1/4" to the 2 recircs.

1x3mm to FPR

1x3mm to Fuel pulse damper

1x3mm to boost gauges/controller.

Well I've removed the EGR stuff and it looks a bit simpler now.

From the look of things these metal lines can be removed and things routed elsewhere.

It just looks a bit confusing when it's all in bits.

Does the vacuum pipe that went to the EGR unit need to be blocked off somewhere?

Don't have my camera with me to take a pic :(

Fitted the 555's on saturday - easier than I thought.

The one that goes to the EGR valve runs to the solenoid at the other end, so if you've junked that too you can just remove the line.

If the valve's still there just leave the pipe disconnected and open to atmosphere, that will keep the valve shut

Carbon canister has a line which runs under the passenger side of the plenum, attaches just under the passenger TB then runs back to the back of the balance bar ;) Junk the lot :D
