Hi,

I am new to the 300's and was wondering are the UK 300zx's 280hp same as the imports?

Im getting told that the UK's are the ones to go for and the insurance is definately better!

Im after a 90-91 uk manual TT, but am struggling to find any, anyone know a good place to look?

Also I see a lot of targa's, but am i right in thinking these are all imports?

Thanks,

Dan.

The gearing limits the manuals to about 186mph, depending upon engine revs etc. The auto for the same revs would do about 200, but obviously only if it has the power to pull it. Both numbers are pretty unrealistic for the vast majority of cars though.

I see, thanks Andy...just checked out your motor, looks like a sweet example mate good effort!

I see you're in essex, me as well, dont know of any Manual 300 TT's for sale do you?

Only with an auto though ;)

Jesus! A Beast

Ah right I didnt know that about the turbo setup, learn something new everyday! ;)

LOL!! i dont think it would actually pull that with the power iv got - but thats theoretical max ;) (if that matters!!)

51x has a 8500rpm limit - fook knows what that works out to!!!

accel figures are: same as impreza to 70, faster after tat and more than one on top speed. :o) dont know the numbers and dont really care.:o)

Anyone know why they were made with twin turbo's and not a single turbo, there a reason for this? Down to it being a 3.0?

The earlier Z31 model had a single turbo but made only 200-220bhp (can't rember exactly...). Nissan wanted the new 300ZX to have 250-300bhp but plenty of torque and low down grunt, therefore chose 2 smaller hybrid turbos to reduce lag. They also had to fit the induction pipes under a much lower bonnet line, so it was much easier to have a turbo on each bank.

Heh heh, I've been reading "Nissan 300ZX - The Enthusiast's Companion" a fekking excellent book. (Cheers, Ben AKA Speezer  )

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

PPS in the North East are the men most people on here use - in the traders section. I've seen quotes of £1000 for a same colour respray, dunno about a change.

Theres a few vids linked on my sig which will show the important parts of owning a 300ZXTT - happy viewing! :D:D:D

It's a cool book ain't it? Check out the pictures where they prototype the body. One looks like the ZX we know, one looks like a Skyline and one looks like an MX-5! Right choice methinks!

Thanks Mate....just downloading your clips now! :)

Do UK spec cars have a speed limiter? I heard that they had one set at 155mph, but on my private road the other night it was indicating 165, and climbing.

I thought they did have a limiter going by what people have been saying, but this could just apply to Jap versions, not sure....anyone know?

They are supposed to be, but there are two possibilities why you hit 165.....

1. the limiter has been removed

2. your speedo has lost accuracy with age. The error margin would be higher as speed increases......
