Can anyone suggest a good place for a buying guide for the above? I did a search and there does not seem to be much about.

I've wisely dumped the Supra and need a runabout for the Summer to compliment the Z.

Any help apart from along the lines of "don't bother" would be much appreciated.

Ta!

you could ask on http://www.pistonheads.co.uk they have a big TVR following on there!!

All the best

Rich;)

Pistonheads is the unofficial 'net forum for TVRs, it was initially set up as a discussion group for TVRs.

There is a huge wealth of info on there and a good turn over of classifieds, I bought mine through Pistonheads.

Good luck, what incarnation are you after?

Not sure yet! I hgave a budget in mind and am trying to match a car to that. It's only the early stages at the mo, but it is definitely a Chimaera I am after. We are not that far apart Tim, so perhaps a chinwag copuld be in order?

NP at all m8, you're more than welcome to have a crawl over my car and I'll do my best to answer any questions you have. There is also a TVRCC monthy meet at Bearsted on the 3rd Wed of the month. I've only been once but they seemed a friendly bunch. However the guy that runs the SE London/HWKent area deserves a medal for his enthisiasm, he's always organising runs and events - his name is Nick Smith.

What I did find when looking for mine, is that it's very much like buying a Zed, there are good and bad ones out there, get a bad one and it'll cripple you, get a good 'un and you'll be smiling everytime you drive it.

Mine has needed a few things sorted, mainly due to neglegenge on the part of previous owners rather than obuse, but it's well on its way to being a good example.

Options are limited even though each and every car is handbuilt to customer order and spec.

Really boils down to colour, full or half hide, PAS, AC and age. Residuals are excellent for a car of its age, and there are lots out there to choose from, with the early example just dipping below the £10K mark.

As for reliability, having owned mine since last Oct, I can honestly say thta if anything's going to go wrong big time it will be the wiring, the rest is really pretty straight forward engineering.

Drop me a mail (tim@red-zed.com) or catch me on messenger and we'll meet up for a drink and chat one night.
