Just had a quote on my insurance from Firebond.co.uk (I'm already with them and pay £257 fully comp limited to 6k miles and car value of £4k) and it's gone up by £380......but I have said the car is worth £8k (with mods) and I have up'd the miles to 8k a year.

Think I'm getting a good deal?? (I may be able to get a bit off when they call me!! LOL)

Hi Matty,

What mods do you have declared for that price?

I called Houghton today and was quoted £688 with £750 excess limited to 3000mls

Baz

how much baz

how old are you?

steve

Wheels, intake, and zorst......:)

I'm 30 (scary old!!) driving for 10+ years, full no claims, UK TT Z and a decent post code.

It has gone up this year but the value of my Z has doubled, plus I've asked for 2k extra mileage.

The excess is £350 but firebond allow you to insure your excess (£35) to cover the excess, a bit of a fiddle but worth it incase!! ;)

Is your Z an import?

Matty.

My cars a 1990 Jap TT, mods- Wheels, intake, zorst, spoiler, chip, AVC-R, pulley, gauges. I'm 27 with 7yrs no claims.

Baz

Matty, why tell them its worth £8k? If it gets stolen you wont get £8k back. You just get the average value.

I think.

I did that with my car, but the contract says you have to prove the car was in A1 condition and worth that, other wise you will only get book price.

The policy price went up by about £40 from £5k to £8k, so I thought why not??

And what are boys trying to say?? My car's not in A1 condition and worth £8k?? :D

Matty.

LOL.

Its a good deal, but make sure you can prove its condtion. Lots and lots of pics inside and out. You cant take pics of its condition after some git stole it and burned it out.

Touch wood that wont happen.

iam 33 and paying £680 with full no claims and clean everything with tesco thats with no mods decliaerd tut tut tut..... i need to ring your place up thats very cheap mate

LOL.

I hope it don't happen.

But once I've finished with the ICE, the gauges, the new leather seats and leather re-trim, full re-spray plus all the under the bonnet work I've done and more to add, I'm sure it'll be worth that (well to me at least) and I'll have more than enough pics of it to prove it's condition.........to add to the hundreds I already have!! LOL

:D

Matty.

Wish i was paying that i pay £2.000  lost my no clams after my GTO burst into flames.

I'm sure it'll be worth that (well to me at least) and I'll have more than enough pics of it to prove it's condition

Or you could take a pic of mine as there's no hammerite on it........LOL

Only Jibbin   ;)

Rich:D

P.S. Can you still help me buddy, PLEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEE!!!!!

Those of you not declaring mods - if you have a 3rd party claim for injury, your insurance will be up for a 5 figure cost (or more). Loss adjusters are not stupid and will spot most mods. If they do, the insurance company will not pay and the rest of your life could be spent in debt. The bigger the claim, the more expert/expensive the loss adjuster which the insurance company sends (I work for an insurance company).

More importantly, someone elses life might be made easier through your insurance company's payout. If they refuse to pay and you don't have the money to pay for what's needed to provide that person with what's needed then you will have wrecked their life. It won't be any consolation to them that you are skint for the rest of your life. This is real - it does happen.

Driving without declaring mods is driving without insurance. You may get away with it, you may not. But don't try and think that it's OK. It's not.

Sorry if I come across as a boring git but I feel quite strongly about this. I know insurance is a nightmare - I sold my Z because the insurance was going to be over £3k with the mods. But if you can't afford the insurance, don't do the mods. It's just not worth it.

Dave

Not going to go on, but I am sure you are aware of what I am going through, 94 uk mint z written off, my fault but that makes no difference, fully comp.........offered 5k by the insurance and just rejected their offer.

Now waiting a reviewed assessment of which they have agreed to do. I am already 400 quid out of pocket (excess).

Oh and then there's the cost of travelling to view loads of sh*t examples and the cost of putting my number plate on retention and then transfereing it. I forgot to mention my nokia carphone kit that I was offered 100 quid for by the insurance but cost me rather more when it was fitted.

If I sound bitte, it's because .........I AM, you never really think about the true cost to replace your car no matter what happens until you have to.

I agree totaly with hairsy

If you are going to lie about mods, don't bother getting insurance in the first palce and IMOP DON"T bother driving an un insured vehicle leave that to the illegal imogrants.

Sorry guys .......Just had to get it off my chest.

Still looking for a replacement Z

Cheers

Ady

Hairsy, Ady.........

Jesus fella's!!!!!! I've declared all my mods and I still feel guilty, I hate to think how all those non mod declaring peeps are feeling!! :D

Your both spot on though, mods should be declared as your not insured in theory if you have not.....

Ady, I hope you get sorted soon bud.

Matty.

WHOOPS........I got on my soap box and you can see by the state of my typing in my last post. Sorry matty, just sitting here with no Z makes you a bit frustrated and at least I can sit here not worrying that they are going to find a mod I have not declared.

Phew.....ok ..........calm now.

Cheers

Ady

I'm with Firebond as well, pay 350 quid a year for 6K miles per year, but any more mileage than that and it went WAY up. Perhaps this is the major difference this year for you Matty?

Matt.

I looked at 5k, 6k, 7k and 8k miles and there was hardly any difference in it at all....

I was suprised, same with the value of the Z too, the rise was minimal (okay I need an agreed valuation but price didn't go much higher, £30 I think from £4k to £8k value!)

I'll give them a call a few days before I have to re-new and try and beat them down a bit. ;)

Matty.

well i'm £2800 third party fire and theft for mine, so i would be so happy paying what you guys are

Ouch! You must really love your Zed to pay that!

Or you have loads of money.

You must have 0 years NCB and 11.99999 points.

Love it isn't the word for it, I have my dream car at the age of 20 but was 19 when I insured it.

You know how it is at that age live with dad so i have lots of spare dosh for my cars.
