I think that Garage's that do M.O.T.'s are a conflict of interest, like so many things in this country that are institutionally wrong.
In many countries they have M.O.T. type vehicle roadworthiness examinations and they are dedicated Government run institutions, with fully trained examiners. I think this way you would see a lot more well kept cars in this country, u know the old 'trader that knows the Garage owner 'M.O.T.' would cease to exist.
One of my workmates just put his car into 3 different places all giving completely different results, one looking for £400 to do the required work whereas the other one that gave a truthful diagnosis was only £65 to replace a steering rack boot & sort out the tracking & adjust headlights :rolleyes:
