Due to a change at the 11th hour, I'm now taking my Zed for a blat across Europe rather than the TVR.

Setting off tomorrow am at 7ish on the Eurotunnel, over the next two days I'll be covering 988 miles, travelling through, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and then onto my destination, Bologna Italy.

Wish me luck people, I can't wait, but I'm a little apprehensive. I will be able to report back on what a near standard Zed will reach on the German Autobahns, I have a GPS set up so it should be pretty accurate. :)

Oh, I'm also taking my in-car video gear so should get some good footage too.

Tim :D

good luck mate,

make sure to do all the major and minor checks before maxing out the engine, don't wanna see you only make 400miles :)

Best of luck Tim,nice to see that a 12 year oild Nissan can take you across Europe and that piece of Blackpool :o :o :o :o Would probably not even make it to the ferry crossing  :D;)

good luck! look forward to seeing some good footage. And have a nice time while you're at it :)

PMSL, oh how true you are. No seriously, the reason I'm not taking the Chimaera is that we simply had too much to get in it as this is a Business trip. Ali and I are going to the Bologna International Children's Book Fair. I'm dissapointed not to be taking the TVR after spending a fortune on new tyres, getting new headlights and numerous other things, the breater on the diff is blocked so there's oil dripping from the LSD, I'm sure it would be allright, but there's no way all these Books and Product Samples would fit in it, hey, they only just and I mean just, fit in the Zed!!

Tim

PS: I'll have to give you a good slap when I see you Macca, that piece of plastic fantastic of yours ever going to be finished? Injectors delayed from Japan! Boll0x! You're just waiting for the Araldite to set on the lastest bit of fibreglass. ;)

have fun tim, i'm just off to buy some shares in shell as with the ammount of juice youre gonna get through their share price will rocket.

Seriously though have a good one, id love to go for a trek round europe in my truck.

Greetings from Italy!!

Hi all, just a quick check of my email and the forum at the hotel.

Made it one way - completely uneventful, well other than the Swiss Guard at the Swiss boarder but thats another story!

This trip has made me realise that the Zed is really ideal as a GT, so, get the Eurotunnel booked people and start hacking it around Europe. Germany Autobahns are fantastic fun but really quite daunting given the speeds people drive at. Upset a V12 750i BM, not bad for a 14 yr old jap crap! We made Stuttgart in under 6 hrs so theres no excuse.

See you all soon

Tim

Well done. :)

But the Zed is a GT.

heh, I used to drive a BM 735 to work every day at 150+ when I was workin in Germany for a couple years :D Wish I'd had my Z then. Autobahns = :hyper:

these days 100-120 still feels 'slow' :D

LOL :D

Nice one Tim :D

Hi All,

Well, 2000 miles in a 14yr old Zed and it didn't miss a beat.

I know the Zed is a GT but who can honestly say that they've used it as one? The UK is just so small in comparison to the mileages you can rack up in Europe.

Bit of a self indulgent post, so here's a few pics, there didn't seem to be much time to stop and take photos, so most are in Switzerland or the odd one of the ferry across Lake Como.

Have a good trip!

Looks fantastic Tim, very jealous :D
