how would a dodgy switch lead to a dodgy pressure gauge reading?

the guage is taking an analogue signal whereas a switch is a digital signal. your sender may be duff but i cant see where a switch would cause your gauge to be faulty

cos the pressure gauge is being fed from the sender via the switch apparently. cos the reading went up to 8 with just the ign switched on b4 the engine starts-when the engine starts its the same. Disconnected the switch and gauge drops -ergo the switch has shorted out. Something like that anyhoo.
