Zed Related: What should the timming be on these cars?

just a general consensus as to what the timming should be.

Stock is 15deg BTDC

Concensus in the states is that you can get away with a couple of degrees of advance on that figure before hitting detonation, but personally I wouldn't want to try that except under controlled (read: rolling road) conditions..

yeh, 15 degrees for stock engine, but i know SE retard it to 13 if you have a boost upgrade, advance is okay for quick acceleration up to a point, then it leans out, by retarding you get the fuelling at high boost and revs and the Se boost upgrade which is nothing more than bleeding air off, gives you the power lower down, that's why most guys are impressed when they have this mod done and drive away, instant power ! but it can come at a price, this i know !!!

While we're talking about timimg - will Shells' new fuel (whatever its called, with the higher octane), require a timing change? Now, I may be wrong on this, but higher octane usually means faster ignition of the fuel, thus requiring an advance in the timing???
