Friend of mine has a Nissan Micra K reg, with clutch problems, crunches in reverse and first. Does this sound like a knackered clutch, or can it be adjusted, or does it sound like gearbox problems ?

I salute the courage of your admission of having a friend with a Micra.

 

I would say clutch or someone reading this over my shoulder has said maybe idle set too high.

mines a G reg and does the same, u really have to bury the clutch in the carpet and force it in, but it dont bother me as its only my 2 and from work car, and yes its slow yes its crude yes its got a hideous brown interior but it does 40+ mpg and i havent spent a penny on it in 6 months, one of the most reliable cars ive had,
