probably a stupid question, but are these pipes purely for looks?

Vijay

Technically? Yes...

OK, they have a smoother interior than rubber hoses, so will have a slightly better flow characteristic.. The main advantage to hard pipes is that under large boost they do not 'baloon' up like rubber ones do - however I doubt anyone runs that kind of boost on a Z (we're talking getting into the 20psi+ territory for that to make any difference)..

They do look the mutts though, no?

Smithy - did mine get posted from the latest batch? (Probably arrived at work today when I was off! Oh well..)

Vijay, the bottom rad mod is not just for looks though, if you have a standard nissan one it's coming to the end of it's life span, it is in opinion one of the longest hoses i've seen, because of this when hot water flows through it becomes very supple and as it is in direct path of your bumper air intake, it has been know to flex, causing major problems with water flow and be mega bucks to repair, mine is polished stainless, for those like me who don't have the rad hood on and of course will not flex, connector hoses are in your choice of colour too, price is probably cheaper than standard as well, try one !!Smithy, i.o.m

ooops, sorry Aaron, yours went in post today, so should have it Monday morning, Smithy

No problem Smithy smile.gif

Once I've got that on, I may well get a bottom rad hose off you as well for when I do the 60k maint (I'll take the rad out when I do it) next month..

You've gotta have have the top hose to match, it would be criminal not too, check out piccies in my rides this weekend, Smithy

Never realised the bottom hose was that shape! Guess I never looked at it all the way along..

Hmm... I think another cheque will be winging it's way to you shortly..

Wonder if I can run to a set of gauge pods too... Hmmmm!

My car will be like the 'Smithy demo car' at this rate biggrin.gif

REZPECT!

Think I saw your car yesterday Tim, just not absolutely certain which one it was - there were 7 red Zeds at SE ! Plus that kind of reddy pink JAP MR. There were also 2 blue ones (like mine) - a L UK model and another having a ton of bodywork done.

Is yours K39 ?
