My daughter has seen one:shock: has anyone ever had a strange encounter with a spirit?

Ghosts only exist in people's heads.

 

They can be attributed to 'hypnogogic experiences' which occur as you leave or enter sleep. It's a state the brain passes through.

 

I 'saw' a ghost myself in a hotel room one morning. It looked like an old fasioned bloke doing metal work at the table. But I knew what it was and that it wasn't real. I looked away for a bit and hoped it'd go away but it wouldn't.

 

Mind you, you could say everything we experience only exists in our heads. Or something.

I have been watching this thread with some interest as I do believe in the paranormal from first hand experience.

 

My experience happened when I was a young monkey (about 19 - 20 years old)

 

I was working as a security guard at the time and was guarding (if that is the right word) a very old manor hose near Tunbridge Wells. I had been doing the job for about 3 months when the first incident occoured. Being a rather reliable guard I was sitting in one of the rooms that I shouldn't be in trying to get my head down for a couple of hours in order to pass the time when suddenly there was a crash that woke me .... I didn't realise what it was at the time of awakening however I was then quite alert. I sat up for about a minute and I saw the ashtray on the table fly into the corner of the room which gave me quite a start. I was shocked, startled and frightened and I moved into a different part of the house as I was all alone and decided to go outside and get some air ...

 

The house itself was very old, it used to be lunatic asylum although I didn't find this out until much later on. When I used to patrol the house I would notice a massive change in temperature whilst moving through the building and in certain areas the hackles came up om my neck and I had the feeling that something was there. I just carried on with whatever duties I had to do.

 

The worst thing happened when I was on duty when I actually saw a lady hanging from the railing of a staircase ... that was scary ... I later found out that it was the lady in charge of the wards ... She committed suicide.

 

I soon asked for another assignment ...

I believe in SPIRITS. maybe they as well as ghosts are part of the same thing. There is soo much in this world we dont understand. MAN would like to believe he has the answer to everything but HE doesn`t!

 

history is full of storys of Ghosts, Spirits acts of god. Surely they weren`t just invented. i agree there maybe a logical explaination for some experience but NOT all.

 

science has never proved the exsitence and nor can it because it for us to open our minds and appreciate the beauty of this world. As children we are soo open minded and have soo many questions but as we get older we become more and more CLOSE minded......it is this that has led to war, hatred and general violence.

 

think about it.

Agree - many a people have told me about spirits\ghosts\demons -> whatever they are called, generally unseen beings. No personal experiences myself, but people I know can tell me a bit about them, plus a few other things. In fact neighbour 2/3 years back was found lying in a ball, saying things like "they are all after me", "they are sitting on the wall there - can't you see them", "they are laughing" numerous times. She was old and died very, very soon (a few months, no more) after. :eek:

I can assure you that I'm not neurotic,neither is my brother as for my wife shes a woman and so you have a valid point there. During our time with H.M armed forces I served in some well scary places and seen some unpleasant stuff.

I don't scare easy and I'm a rational guy and just like you. If I had never had this experiance I would be LMFAO at all the w@nkers talking boll*cks. Truth is it happened and I carn't explain it and you carn't influence it, contain it, kill it or defend yourself in any way and that really is scary.

I have. It creeped me out. I can't explain for sure how it worked. I don't understand a lot of things........but I don't put it down to 'ghosts' or big beardy geezers in the sky :rolleyes: I think the human brain/mind is a wonderful and confusing thing. I'm sorry, but when you're dead you're dead. Game over.

I have read stories of people seeing, or thinking they saw something because another person wanted them to see it if you know what I mean, kind of enforced hypnotism and I do believe that to be another possible explanation for what I encounted, but, bloody seemed real enough to stop me ever go back in there.
