Hello, I picked up my first 300zx this weekend and 30 miles from home it over heated and blow all the water away. Looked like it came from the nearside as the nearside wheel was soaked with water. Atfer recovery my friend and i stripped the cooling system down but could find no reasons for the over heat and thought it may have been an air lock or something. However when we removed the expansion box it appears to have a whole at the top of the box with no hose.. I can see water coming out of it after a little run.. Should this whole be there??????

Any help would be great..

Try replacing the rad cap - sounds like its buggered and letting the system depressurize into the expansion tank ;)

Thanks for that... Been running around yesterday an it appears fine now ..constant temp..Until the blooming a power steering hose started pissing out fluid...Gawd what next...Not bad for three days eh..

Don't buy a new PS hose! Get it fixed by a local hydraulic specialist ;) New hose costs ~£150 whereas repair will probably cost ~£30 :) Is it the one that runs under the alternator pulley?
