Mac, read the bottle.....theyre not happy pills theyre steriods!!!:slap:

Gotta be better for ya than the ciggies m8 - good luck! ;)

you quitting smoking Mac ?.

If you are quitting Mac, good luck to you fella. I've quit for Lent (not that I'm religious or 'owt!) and it's proving difficult as hell.

I've got a good friend who's been on various SSRI's and other mood altering meds from an early age. They seem to work very well for him, but he has to be sensible with alcohol. Which, unfortunately, on occassion he ain't. Thankfully he's come through ok to date, with only some shocking but also very funny (in a black-comedy kinda way) stories to show for it! :)

LOL Yea we trying to stop.

When the Doctor said they were an antidepressant I said STOP REWIND PLAYBACK LOL,NO way do I need that and I can't understand why anyone would.

She told me that my brain produces the right chemicals when I have a problem, and that people who take antidepressants can't help the fact that their body does not produce this chemical, therefore they need to take it.

So here goes well worth a try IMHO;)

Good luck guys, i stopped a year ago when i had my accident and was in hospital for four months sort of did it for me. I only used to smoke socialably but i still get a craving every now and then, but i just have a pint or two and that cures it.

All the best

Rich :D

Can't believe it, Had to go to smoke stop to get perscription, gonna try patches first. Never tried to give up b4. If these don't work then its zyban Bloody horrible habbit def time to quit.

Hang on! Are you really on Anti-depressants because you are trying to stop smoking?

FFS I smoked for about 16 yrs, I was a 25 a day smoker when I decided to quit and other than the use of a Nicotinel inhaler I didn't need anything else. Mac I thought better of you, if you want to stop it is easy, I had tried in the past and failed but this time I wanted to stop, that's the difference. If you want to stop and are determined then you will.

As for the doctor's explanation, that is disgusting, sticking you on Prozac (or similar) is reprehensable, IMHO. Just too bloody easy to write a perscription, you don't need them you need will power.

STOP BEING SO WEAK WILLED.

Tim

And there was me thinking that this place drove us all to drink :duffer:

Never understood what was so great about smoking - so never tried it. But I smokers are really brave cos it sez on the side of the packet SMOKING KILLS. Well that's pretty clear.

Good luck to you both though :)

My old man is adamant that he has not stopped - but it's been about 25 years since he had his last one.

No it's the damn cars!

Exactly right it's all in the mind.

are you sure there not hormone replacement tablets , be careful bud at your time of life these will make your hair fall out even quicker  :D

MAC which ones are you on....be very careful as they can decrease your libido! (well thats what my girlfriend told me....lol)

Big Roy and I are both on antidepressants,I hope they work!

Just make sure they come from GSK - a better quality of drug, and you get to pay my wages:) So if that doesn't make you feel better, nothing will !

Well Ive been on for 4 weeks and have now stopped. Zyban is not like most SSRI's it DOESNT work on serotonin levels and if it did I wouldnt take it. Its works on Dopamine the pleasure chemical (the one you get when u shoot your...:D) The stuff makes giving up easy and my libido certainly hasnt suffered infact its the opposite. Macca informs me that he's going for the world record of shagging sessions in one week so it cant be that bad!

...and he doesn't have to take his hand out for dinner before he gets any! :D

Ooops, better run for cover now!!

Tim

LOL never thought macca would take pleasure drugs. :D :D

Good on you for giving up smoking though, worse drug of them all. ;)

i still get a craving every now and then, but i just have a pint or two and that cures it.

LOL, That IS the porblem for me. when I have had a few :duffer: the cravings get worse and your gaurd slips a bit, but I have kept to my word and resisted temptation.

PS Good luck Mac ;)

Oi MR :xxx: read the link before you jump off on one:D

I have tried to give up on many occasions, unfortunately I am well and truelly hooked on nicotene:(.You know when it is an addiction when the first thing you do when you wake up is spark one up followed by another 2 straight after.

As Roy says

PMSL

It's not easy even if you are determined, giving up any habit is not easy and then you have the addiction on top. But I agree, If you really do want to stop you will succeed.

I found that it was the habbit that was harder to kick rather than the addiction. I used to smoke 10 a day for about 10 years, Geez that is 3560 x10 = 35600 Ciggy's. Enough to make anyone think twice.

FFS, think of the money saved! you could spend it on your Zed!

Tell you what though Macca, nothing bothers or upsets you its great! la la la la la la la la la :D

Just think the next scroat to piss you off on the door will get a nice hug! :D
