First pic of my re-trim :D.

Probably may re-do a couple of bits, as I'm not tatally happy.

Especially as this vinyl is very stiff to work with. Am unhappy with the center console lid and the rear passenger side panel. Anyway see what you think, as I'm doing the drivers door tomorrow afternoon.

Doesn't look too bad from the pic. Why did you go for vinyl rather than a Series II, velour type look ? I would have thought that would be a bit easier to stretch around the curved sections.

that looks really good dave, am planning on doing this next week, how thick vinyl did you get? is th piping red or maroon? wot glue did you use and where did u get it from? did u use th same glue for th wire?

has anyone got any pics of a car with maroon interior? my cars red and i cant decide whether to do it all maroon or black with maroon piping, i have decided against red cos it stands out too much

Take my word for it, it isnt an easy job. This has taken me quite a while to do. Depending how the drivers door goes tomorrow, i may rip it all out and have a leather one from the ZCentre. This isnt a job to rush into, take your time, plan, plan, plan!!!! I'm sure Stuart would agree with this, and anyone else who has done theirs as well.

Vinyl thickness - Sorry not sure, just brought it.

The 'Piping' is red - 17amp wire from Halfords :D

Glue - This is spray adhesive from the the same place I got the vinyl

The wire isnt glued in, although it will have to be on the rear panels, as the recess isnt as deep.

Thanks Andy.

I went for vinyl mainly because I want to leather the seats. Depends how it all looks when it's all in place, but may change it :( we'll see.

A word of warningon spray glue. I did my interior (twice) during the summer with two different "recommended spray glues. Each time I went out on a hot day and the glue gave way in the heat, ended up taking the vinyl back off and going back to tweed. Plan to redo it using a brush epoxy

Dave

that looks like a tidy job, the red piping is a nice touch

Dave - how much do you envisage needing to cover everything that is in tweed? or, if you can't tell yet, how big was the piece that you used for the door?

I bought 5 metres each time, and that was plenty. You should plan out how your cutting to maximise your usage

Looks very nice Dave

I'm glad I did mine in Alcantera, sounds MUCH easier to work with!!! :)

Cheers guys, will post some more pics when I've got all the panels back in the car.

I brought 4 metres in total, and have about 1 metre left over, but I have been very frugle with my cutting, but then as I'm thinking about re-doing some bits this should come in handy.

Nismo, yours is a very nice job, and I would think is probably easier to work with

And to anyone else who is thinking of doing this, if you can afford/get hold of leather, then use it. As it would be a lot more plyable.

a brush on epoxy glue mate, like evostick

Erm, EvoStik isn't an epoxy, it's a contact adhesive (and you can buy it in spray cans from http://www.screwfix.co.uk). Araldite is an epoxy - you have to mix an adhesive and a hardner.

A rubber solution like Copydex might be suitable.

where did you get your materials from nismo?

I got my material from Martrim, who had a stall at Trax2003.

They are based in Middlewich , Cheshire though and their phone No. is 01606 834480. They have a website at http://www.martrim.co.uk, but it is under construction at the 'mo.

Who cut your grass mate
