Well no sooner had I thought I'd cured my missfire, well I hadn't.

The two cylinder that now missfire are the centre ones on both sides. One may be a faylty spark plug but I have swapped coils and tested injectors are firing and all seems OK.

Please help guy's as the car isn't really driveable in this state. Does this sound like a wiring problem or PTU related?

Think it might be the 'faylty' spark plugs.

Tried moving the ptu connectors around a bit? Sounds most likely to me....

Ah Duffman!

Not tried this but did clean them off yesterday. Didn't seem to make a difference  I'll try moving them around in a min as I'm going to do some engine cleaning!

I had it with mine. AFTER I cleaned the damn connections LOL. I think the sockets open up slightly and when you clean them there's no contact left....possibly....SRRAE? :D

Might not be the PTU though - could be the connectors themselves.... T'was what I had.

I have the same mine is only firing on 5 cylinders, have put new Denso Iridium plugs in I reckon it's one of my coil packs or one of the injector leads? have had it run through Conzult and it was fine 50 miles down the road and the same S**t happens again I give up. Any ideas ??? Please help ! What is a PTU ?

PTU = Power Transistor Unit. Supplies the coil packs with current at the right time to fire the spark plugs. Its bolted to the LHS of the front of the engine looking from the front, with a finned front.

To find a dodgy coil pack simply swap it over with another and see if the missfire moves - if it does its the coil pack if not then its either the wiring, ptu or injector/wiring. Test the injectors by removing the CAS (RHS of front of engine looking from the front) and spinning the shaft on it, listening to the possible faulty injector. If its good you'll here a click from the injector. After this its either PTU or the wiring. Try a known good PTU - if this doesn't work its down to the wiring, maybe even a badly seated ECU connector.

Andy, I'm ok with basic stuff but I will try to work with what you've told me, I wish you were a bit closer to me I'd be around your place badgering you to have a look at it. Cheers for the help anyway mate, any diagrams with pointy arrows anyone ?

is there no-one nearby that you can swap a PTU over with??

Ivan,

If your car gets over to me, your more than welcome at swopping a few bits over.

Got some insulting tape round the wires and went out for a drive and well  Whoa!!!! It flew like it hasn't for some time.

Thanks guys (especially you Duffer) for all your help in getting my baby fixed.
