The harness is about $400 I think. Cant remember exactly. Most places in the US sell them, and at that cost if you are taking your engine out, you are silly not to change it.

Is nice being able to move the harness around with out hearing nasty crackling noises. I also thing the quailty of the harness is better than the standard one. The wires seem to be covered more in tape or insualtion and some of the wires seem to be slightly thicker.

The cost so far is

$4300 on parts from the US (Not including pistons)

£235 Rebore block, polish crank and new bearing set.

£900 on new turbos. Will be good for 18+psi.

£450 on R33 wheels. (4 tyres need replacng)

I am fecking skint!!!!!!!

What has been the delay Stu? How long have these parts been floating around the Globe?

  • Author

Most of the delay was the intercoolers, it was a long wait for them, plus I kept adding parts on all the time. Then is was forgotten to be posted for 2 days. Then the US customs had hold of them for 3 days, and then they changed their policy or something and then had to have them again for another inspection another 3/4 days

The parts left the US on the 11th so probably got to Liverpool on the 12th/13th. (Plane was going from LA so would have had to stop somewhere else in the US.) And then after traveling 6000 miles in 2 days, it took 4 days to get from Liverpool to my house 30 miles away ;) Probably stuck in customs again.

Bloody US:D,Mine are on their way from Japan. Deal direct with Japan I say makes sense instead of Japan via US then UK,so I will let you know if their postmen are any better;)

  • Author

Knowing the Japanese it will be in this country 12 hours after they send it. Then the UK postal serice will sit around scratching their arses wondering what to do with it for 5 days.

Just getting my ones reconditioned but with completely uprated parts. New wheels, shafts 360º bearings, step gap rings, etc etc.

I asked that and he said that he has sold them to people in the UK before and they had no problems. To be honest I think they actually are Jap ones and made for right hand drive and its infact the people in the US who have more trouble fitting them.

Stuart

Nice one

Glad to see you've done something with the tubs, it would have been sad to stick with completely standard tubs when ya done all this to her.

You'll have to let me know who you dealt with as I'm planning to bite the bullet in November. Got a few bits like intercoolers already but need to assemble every thing before I start.

You too Mac if you cna let me know who, how much and where. I'm trying to get as much info as poss to get the best bits.

Oh ya remember to change your cam belt pully's or she'll scream like a brazen hoare everytime you start her.

Stu,

If you're using standard tubs then the tub gaskets SHOULD be in the engine rebuild gasket kit - unless things have changed since I last rebuilt one (about 4 months LOL) ;)

are they nismo engine mounts or Nissan ones?

Nismo is the way to go.

Well I asked that to the people got the gasket set from and they said the gaskets for the turbos where not in the gasket set, and so I ordered new gaskets for the turbos. I now have 2 sets of turbo gaskets as one set is supplied with the set. There is everything in the gasket set, including sump washer so I dont know why I was told there where no turbo gaskets.

The whole thing was on a sort of a budget. The main reason for the engine rebuild is to get it back to how is should be, by replacing a lot of the components. I could have got larger turbos but then some other part of the engine would have suffered. My main priority was to get the engine working as best as I could, not to buy larger turbos and hope the rest of the engine still works.
