Out of interest what is the IP of the email address. It would be interesting to see if they are actually from NZ.

From what I can find out, that email has been sent from Amsterdam.

Just used another site which looks more primising. It says its is sent from Nigeria.

So by the looks of it, it is the same people running the scam

Wierd - though it does say outlets in Netherland - singular lol - you'd think they'd get their country right ;)

Wonder where they've picked my details up from - I've got the car advertised on here, sxoc, and Jap Performance magasine

Are you reading this Mr Mark "I dont sound very Dutch" Williams?? :D

Ooh the plot thickens - nicely found!

Does any one know if that address is HIS address? Seems very specific. If I try my IP it gives blueyonder HQ address in London somewhere

reply that

"i do acknowledge this offer and i will forward my car to your customer when i receive the £5200, as I DO have an obligation to my family and my bank, if these terms are not acceptable, please do not waste my time, your time and

fill up my inbox with diarrhea of the text variety, i look forward to receiving your customers payment for the ashtray and other bits you require"

Or just reply asking why is a person in Nigeria in the business of importing cars into New Zealand.

ha ha obviously a scam, who'd pay £5200 for that old heap!!! :)

sorry Pete,

I'm sure it's worth every penny!

Pete,

Get them to send you the cheque!!

And keep it as a momento (also values your car nicely too!! :D)

Matty.

it is the address of the company that the IPs are registered to, it is possible it is his address if he registered a class C in his name, that isn't usually done.

I've been blamed before for scams though becuase I have my name and e-mail on a few forms similar to the one that srrae posted so be careful and don't bother that guy because the odds are it isn't him. He has been reported to the relevent agencies.

oh and these people will often try to send a form of payment they can later claim back or cancel. I'd deal in cash only when if they come and pick it up.

and those IPs are registered to a nigerian isp http://www.supernet300.net/

how do thes scams work? i saw a tv program once ages ago with this guy who set up a site with ways of scamming th scammers, cnt remember wot it was tho

well the problem is that sometimes the scammers are organised criminals, if you screw aroudn with them you end up with no knee caps

I'd reply - say the price has gone up to 15k - then when he says he still wants it - tell him its sold!

Just join loads of 'free' porn sites, using HIS e-mail as the contact!!   :p

lolol brilliant!

Read about this on association for british drivers and some other places (see link below). Not entirely sure why anyone would fall for it though ...

If you fall for that you deserve to be ripped off. lol...

heh, the ol' 419 scammers

Any1 hear of the classic where an american law firm secretary fleeced $2m from the account to give to these guys, thinking she'd get back the money + some extra for herself..

I can't believe there are people that gullible. :slap:
