hi guys wonder if you could help me.

usually when i put my foot down on the accelerator the car would almost stop for a second before accelerating very fast. a similar thing would occur if i pressed the power button.

however............recently.....when i put my foot down the revs seem to go up quite fast(normal) however the car doesn`t accelerate. it seems like the engine is trying to accelerate but no extra power comes out. HOWEVER, as soon as there is a change of gear (up in to the next gear) the car accelerates as expected!!!!!!

I seem to get a normal / expected boost when i use the power button.

i know this probably doesnt make any sense but does anybody have a clue to what going on. Could it be a problem with gears?

cheers

Jay

p.s. boost gauges etc all working properly

Yeah sounds like a boost leak to me. Check the hose clips on each end of the boost piupes (2 x big rubber pipes either side of the radiator). Could well be leaking out of these.

you ask could it be a problem with the gears,

it could be the first sign of a slipping clutch (if manual)

or autobox slipping
