A friend mailed me his new set up,FMIC with relocated Filters and oil coolers.

Featured Replies

Nice, is that 2 oil coolers, or is one a supplementery water cooler?

Notice he's binned his A/C too..

ahh, could be auto cooler I guess

how exactly is putting one of the filter cones behind an oil cooler a good idea? Its a good idea but the locations could be better.

It depends from what fmic your bying and if you are going for 1-2 air filters. Nice setup but mine is gooing with the filters behind the intercooler and just relocating the oil coolers

Well I know you're talking about intercoolers, but what does the FM stand for?

The guys in the US show us the way again  have seen this set up few times before but without the 2 oil coolers in front, great idea as it reduces the intake tract, moves the AFM closer to turbo and thus increasing the pulsed airflow signal, great improvement Mac if yer thinking of going for it.

The US guys call this CAI as i've done a number of these set ups for other Nissan's,they tend to fit an AEM valve before the maf to prevent water soakage though.

I think the side straps are to stop it rolling from side to side -isn't it attached in the centre ?

strange way to mount the engine, 2 straps on the TB's and 1 at he back, dunno if its attatched to the plenum or something in the V.

Just for the record, this guy beleives in the way the Japanese do things and NOT the americans,he has his engines built in Japan then fits them himself.

Hmm, okay nice pic of his engine, but we were pointed to the fact of the coolers and intakes, not his engine !!

Maybe his friend in Japan mailed him step by step instructions on how to take a hacksaw to his intake tract, fit some silicone sleeve then a maf and cone !

Geez, it was only cos i spotted it as an American car and have seen quite a few US guys do the same thing for the past few years. So as i implied before

GREAT IDEA  I think next time i'll say :nono:

Sorry Jaffa missed that,Yes they are both engine oil coolers maybe a little OTT but the guy said he never has to worry about his oil temp.

My AC is going in the bin too;)

Hope he realises he's got the wheels on the wrong sides in the first piccy otherwise it's gona be fun in the wet

LOL willieo,

thats the 1st thing i noticed too, rotational tyres pointing the wrong way,
