I Would just like to say Thankyou to Houghton insurance in Luton today for insuring My Z.

I declared absolutely Everything to them below and there rate was £300 lower than any one else. you should at least give them a try. For comparison,

mine is an Import 300zx Twin Turbo Manual

mods declared lowered, 19" wheels, Retrim, stage 2 hybrid Turbos, JWT chipped ECU, MOMO Steering wheel, Apexi Boost Controler, Rear Lights cleared, Alpine/Gennisis ICE setup, Wood dash kit, Aftermarket Dials, Custom Detailing under Bonnet, Blitz Twin Airfilter Setup, SE Stainless Exhaust, Jwt underdrive Pulley, Scarab Bumper And Tailgate skin, 355 Brembo Brake Upgrade, Stainless Brake hoses, 5.1 Brake fluid.

And the most important factor is the car is now Insured for £15K. Subject to a written Valuation, which SE Nistek (Bob) is doing, not £5.5k Which to my horror is what it was insured for with Bell Direct. (current Book market Value) I did not know this at the time. i was paying nearly £600 without any power mods declared at the time. They would not insure me this year due to work done.

Houghton quoted me less than £600 limited mileage Classic insurance policy Their contact no is 01582 867763 Top people.

The car is stll for sale Although i am in no rush ;)

May I ask how old you are?

:)

I knew i would forget somthing, im 32 with an SP30 Garaged, and they dont need no claims, if i had none it would have made no difference to th premium, i tried telling them i had ten years but they did'nt want to know.

I'm 24 with an Sp30 and sp60, 4 years ago now. Thats real good for fully comp cover, I'll have to give em a ring I think :)

I'll presume your car is garaged ;)

sounds good for your age. I'm waiting for delivery of 91 N/A from Japan with all standard spec. Rang Houghton today (Rob) who quoted me £409 fully comp with protected no claims, with £600 excess, left on drive overnight, with 10K annual mileage limit.

However I'm 52 with max no claims and clean history which I guess makes a difference.

Previous best was £520 with ING direct.

Hi5, Adz told you to ring them mate :slap: mine is fully comp Jap import SWB TT Man and they quoted me £541 for a modded one so it might be cheaper cos the one im getting is standard at the mo as you know...

This may sound a bit funny but i dont have a clue what a SP30 & SP40 are

Can some1 explain !!!

Also will they cover me as im only 21 soon to be 22 in june on a classic car policy with limited miles!!!

Fas

SP30 - exceeding statutory speed limit on a public road

SP50 - exceeding speed limit on a motorway

SP60 - undefined speed limit offence

Cheers Mike!!!

But can i get a classic car policy on limited mileage at the age of 22!!!

Thats what i need to know and who do i turn 2!!! Also it will be insured as a second car!!!

When people post up insurance quotes, could the please post some information about it.

Limitied miles, age of driver, any additional drivers, vaule of the car, UK or import, garaged, classic/2nd car etc. This will give us an idea if it will suite other people.

Stuart

Hi-

I use Houghton - FAB! £302 (12.5% discount for being a 300zx.co.uk member) 2nd car. Classic policy, 5000mls/pa garaged, 92 jap TT, manual, mods- Intake, exhaust, chip, boost controller & T/timer, suspension and brake u/grades. 38 yrs old, clean licence.

i got a quote off houghton im currently paying £750tpft with adrian flux but houghton quoted me £372tpft and £589 fully comp thats for a na z, 3 years ncb, garaged, cu30, cat2 imob, alloys bumper and filter and im 25 def be changing to them.

houghton insured me fully comp £380 protected no claims ..i,m 38 clean license 6 yrs no claims bonus 1991 silver non turbo auto 4000 mile a year and considering the cheapest one i had last year was £760 which i took out with`bell direct i was absolutely over the moon with this insurance company could not believe it when they ,quoted me the above price well chuffed cully z

Are all these low quotes (ie below £700) on classic policies? And more importantly, does it HAVE to be a second car to be on a classic policy? 'Cos I don't use a car for commuting or going to work, so I could put it on a very limited mileage. I am paying nearly £1300 with Tescos, for a 4,000 miles limit, fully comp, I'm 33 with max no claims and a clean licence, though I do live in London. It's a lightly modded UK spec manual tt.

Thats horrendous at 33!

I'm 23, 5 yrs NCB, SP20 4 yrs ago, 12k miles a year, unmodded, £826 Fully comp with Admiral. Didn't even wan't to know about security (although I had a Cat1 fitted for peace of mind).

Will look at Classic / 2nd car rates come renewl in May

I just want to say that insurance is totally *****cks. I'm with AON. Age 37 (was),5 years ncb, jap tt with exhaust declaired, not garaged, clean licence. £585. Classic policy.

But according to some people, AON wouldn't do a classic policy for a jap spec.

You read on here of someone with same spec as yourself getting insured for £600, & when you ring them it's £895.

What I did was compile an A4 size list full of numbers off this forum then booked a day off work & sat down with a brew & the phone & got ringing.

Adrian Flux said AON were taking the piss but people on here are insured for a lot less.

It's just luck on the day.

Yeah the problem is the first 5 insurers I phoned wouldn't touch any modded car. Also when I moved 1/4 mile to a new flat, which had underground parking, 24 hour security, a cctv pointing at my car and 2 security barriers to pass through before the garage, my premium went up £130 because I'd gone from W2 to W9, even though the car is now virtually impossible to nick, and the fact that the two addresses are so close anyway. Despite telling them this, they weren't interested. If the classic thingy is not only for a second car, then that is great, I'll give it a go.

Did you say it was an import? Did they ask if it was? Did you say it was a 300ZX or a Fairlady?

Officially the 300ZX in Japan is called the Fairlady, so when you get an insurance quote you should say Fairlady not 300ZX. There have been a few people in the past who have been caught out by this, but things have got a lot better and they ask you anyway whether its an import or not.

Did they know its an import then?

the price I paid (£302) is fully comp, and a 2nd car, I would assume that if it was an only car, the premium could be higher, though it's worth asking the insurers

Its best to go with a broker, they understand changes like yours a lot better flying machine
