Ive got a question?

I have a UK TT auto 91 with 132k miles. All past MOT's and two previous owners.

I am really very impressed that imports have so little milage on them! I know the japs are smaller than us, so is Japan small too! I will look this up.

Also I hear that there are restrictions on thier roads limiting their milage use per year?

Are the garages like Z specialists out there? Or are they all NISSAN dealers!

Why are imports all around 10 years old? Do they pass a yearly MOT after the 3 years or what!

And who translates all this Japanese documentation for the potential buyers??

Just curious

There is a strange MOT/TAX system in Japan which makes you pay more money for older cars as they want you to get newer ones which have better emissions.

After 3 years the car has to have a very expensive MOT type of thing which will cost you over £1000. You are then clear for 3 years before you have to do it again, and the price goes up for 6 year old cars and the same again for 9 years old cars etc. until the price of this MOT becomes not much more than buying a new car. The cars are generally 10 years old because its had its MOT done for 9 years and after that it costs so much to get this MOT that they sell the car.

Also I think in Japan you get charged by the mile for driving. The public transport is fantastic too. Some one I know went to Japan and their metro train was 2 mins late arriving. She got a full refund as she walked off the train.

you will also find that in Japan it is a stigma not to be driving a newer car

the street cred of owning a Zed out there goes a long way to dulling this slight on their status, hence very few owners on the log book as it is a cheaper option to keep a performance car for as long as possible before very expensive MOTs and road tax make the selling of a 10 year old car the favoured way to,
