my mate just went into a local tool/hardware shop and asked for some 1mm welding tips. However the guy returned with about 15 different types.

 

Anyone know what to ask for?

None, your engine still goes bang if you don't do things properly....

Is there some more detailed explanation available Andy? Are these two different techniques to achieve the same end?

boost jets go inside the pipes to the wastegate & act as restrictors, boost valves (or bleed valves) "T" off of the wastegate lines & vent some of the pressure to atmosphere.

1mm boost jets give me 12psi :)

 

Make sure you have an aftermarket chip to allow the increased fueling.

Yep, I had bleed valves set at 15psi and a JWT chip, but didn't like the way the car was running. Boost controller is my next purchase I think, but can someone explain how this works compared to the jets/ valves (so clearly described by Paul above!??)
