The Mrs has forbidden me to drive home, she says its really bad going into Daventry, just stationary cars on the roads, thick snow and not much visibility  Hope she gets there ok.

Shes turned back towards her work and is gonna head for her parents house and I've been told to stay in Leamington at a mates for an evening of FIFA2003 and eyetoy lol :D:D

Pretty scary out there - drive safely people :)

Stuck at work. what a bummer.

Its only a little bit of crystalised water. Whats the problem?

Probably the wrong sort of crystalised water! No problems with the boss's 4x4 up the drive and off to the shops TC and 4x4 idiot lights shining! Still I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere tonight, as Pete says "Take Care" we've seen enough bent Zeds already this year.

Yes Pete its well bad,i had to use the Z to go 2 mile to work as the old Escort would not have it(battery)just got it in garage ,then white out, unreal,in 30 mins a good 3 inches, lasted for about two hours, then stopped and froze,i went up to the local garage on foot, cars every where, standstill, sliding down small hills with all brakes full on and still sliding  There were about 20 cars at the bottom of my road, all trying to make there way to the top of the hill, total mayhem :(

Tony

left the z at work and got bus and train home, tried to get out the carpark but is on a slight hill and after a bit of wheelspin and swerving sideways figured it wasnt worth the risk!! just got it back from the bodyshop too!

took about 20mins for quite a bit of snow to settle around reading!! never seen it happen that quickly before

Hi got home safe...........in 3 hours but normally takes 30mins, roads like glass, lorry jack knived but no probs with the Z, put it in second and off it went like a dog wagging its tail. No not really, I was actually supprised after some of the things I have read on here. The ABS works a treat and even turned it round on the drive using the power to force the back end out and park it on a slope facing down,, although its the ford KA tomorow...... don't wanna take any risks.

Sooooo they said WE ARE NOT GONNA GET CAUGHT OUT THIS TIME! (highways agency).

I have not seen the roads this bad where I am as long as I can remember, I think Ice skates would have been the best form of transport tonight.

I don't suppose there are any grit lorry drivers on here to let us know what went wrong are there, wrong kind of snow maybe?, came at the wrong time? came down all of a sudden, we were just overwhelmed. I wait to hear all the excuses.

Cheers

take care

ADy

Hey skratchuk , you in Reading then? Not seen you around, though I did pass a Red 300 near the hospital yeterday evening, didn't have time to flash :D

AAAAGH!

Took the car to work without thinking there would be THIS problem!!

Got a mile down the road in Birmingham - it took THREE hours, and NOTHING was moving. And as soon as I got to a slight hill- wheelspin wheelspin wheelspin, so I had to leave the z parked up at some B&Q carpark in the middle of Birmingham. Ended up getting home to Leamington at HALF TWELVE!!!! with no z!

Some kind guy gave me a hand pushing it off the road and said he would keep an eye out for me, but I'm desperate to get back to it. Will I be able to go anywhere today?

Apparently some bus had toppled over trying to get up the hill. Frightening. I am NEVER NEVER NEVER taking out the z with the merest threat of ice ever again.

Supposedly the grit was the problem. It mixed with the snow caused slush and then because it snapped so cold it froze rather than staying snow. or something.

Ady, do you own a red zed with a name relating number plate?

cheerz, mickey

Herman

Ahh, a mate of mine, who works in Thele, keeps saying he's seen a Red 300 loads of times. He drives a VTEC 4th Gen Honda Prelude with a bit of a bodykit.

Flash him if you see him, it'll freak him out
