Although I really like the design of the new forum, why is it soooo slow?

I have to use a dial-up connection during the week and i've had to leave this loading whilst I went for lunch just to open up a new post. To view messages is downright painful (5 x longer than previously) and means I don't bother.

Is this something that's going to improve shortly or has a decision been made to alienate anybody who is not on a broadband connection?

If I was new to the forum I would not hang around waiting for it to load, i'd just move off to somewhere quicker. This could prove a real problem for attracting new members...?

Alternatively, if there's something I can do to my laptop to speed up access to the site (all other websites and forums are fine) can somebody let me know.

Apologies if this topic has already been discussed - unfortunately I haven't got 24hrs available that are required to use the search function.

Hmm I am having no problems when I dialup, I actually read the forum from my phone as well,

do you know how to do a traceroute?

Seems to be losing the updates / threads read as well.

I have always felt that it seemed a little slower since the upgrade. Also the threads seem further apart so you need to scroll more - I think it's because of the width of the column in which the moderator names are displayed.

yeah it's loads slower than before the UG.

I've found it to be slightly slower at work, too. At home on the laptop it's almost painful (56K connexion!).

There is a slight problem over one of the BGP connections, My company is working to verify and correct,

Ill see if i can optimise some of the images, the next few software update should make downloads a little bit more comfortable I hear.
