on a scale of 1 - 10 I say that was pretty much fooked.

You're lucky you haven't got bits of rods sticking out the side of your block.

I'd Say on a scale of 1 - 10 on being lucky it did'nt go was in the upper 20's lol

im no engine whizz but what would cause that to happen, manufacutre defect, too much boost, oil starvation, or just general wear.

Thats Lucky

If that had been mine It would have come straight through the engine bay. :D

Is that the end-cap? What's with all the scoring? What state was the shell bearing in? I'd expect to see that inner surface all lovely and smooth, the end cap/rod not the bearing?

That looks like oil starvation to me...

lol! looks like the bearing dissapeared a long time ago tim!!

you're damn lucky bud - that must have sounded terrible when running!

It's the rod, and it's fooked!

Spun a shell by the looks of it, how's the crank?

Good, so it's not me going mad then. I couldn't understand how you could get that degree of damage and still have a bearing, I guess everything was spinning independantly!!

Lucky is NOT the word.

You'll be needing a new crank then. Didn't you notice low oil pressure, it must have been pissing out of that bearing.

i'm having a bad day aren't I? It's obviously a rod as the studs in it! D'oh!

Crank is fine, thank god, and yes it did spin a shell as a result of oil starvation.
