Just noticed that there are some gooey dripps from my front tension rod rubber bushes. Noticed here some debate about poly bushes for these. My car handles great and stops straight so when do you decide the bushes are sh*gged?

Also is fitting poly ones an easy job? Have done something similar on my 71 scimitar se5 but that has flintstones era suspension.

Drippy bushes means MOT failure, which is why I have to get mine fixed within about 3 weeks. I've got the new poly bushes, but not the time to fit them yet.

Harve, how did it go on yours mate ?

Z only passed its MOT a month or so back and the drips were there then. Guess the guy thought same as me that it was oil from somewhere else that had found its way there.

I touched the stuff - its like thick treacle.

Hi,

Just done mine, the pressure you need to re-ring the poly ones is collosal!

if you get stuck mail me.

Forget the blues brothers..... Me and Harve are the Tie-bar brothers biggrin.gif They are v easy to get off but the bushes are a different question as Harve says... frown.gif I would recommend getting a local garage or engineering fella to do the actual bush work for ya wink.gif The only problem I had was getting the torque wrench on the back of the nut for the arm pivot - the anti roll bar blocks access frown.gif Only way round this was to put the car on axle stands and jack up the wishbone, rotating the anti-roll bar out of the way wink.gif Apart from that, I gave the arms and bushes to a mate who has the proper equipment wink.gif

Replacing the bushes has totally cured my severe brake juddering so may well do the same for you if you have that problem.

Got a local garage to fit new poly ones so don't know how hard it is.

Thinks they cost about £40 from Z Centre.

the stock tension rod bushing is filled with silicone material. It's not a difficult remove/install job if you use a hydraulic press or use a torch and burn it out.

I don't think my Maglite™ is powerfull enough to do that.... biggrin.gif LMAO

These are the ones at Courtesy, also available from Luke @ Z Centre.

Wish I'd changed 'em before getting my disks skimmed and all the other messing about!

My brakes used to nearly pull the stearing wheel out my hands sometimes it was that bad.

Now it's gone totally.
