Just watching a vid of super cars by martin brundle last night and the F40 got me thinking, it only has 460bhp (or there abouts) and makes over 200mph top end, i know it only weighs 1100kg but just got me thinking, i think i could have made v close to 180 in my rx7 which wasn't stock.. but not running properly so had about stock power at time i went for it. (got 160 easy before girlfriend told me to slow down)

 

So, what does the TT do in stock form? Anyone done near 180 (on a private track of course) or what do these do?

 

with a little tuning can these reach near 200mark?

If it's stock, then it's limited to 155, unrestricted dunno, 170ish for a manwell, I think the Auto gear ratio is a bit longer so faster for them.

170 not bad then! mine coming has a few mods, has a BIG single exit for soem reason, would of preffered dual exit but u gets what u get! wanna hear how loud it is :D

 

anyone got any real experiences ?

I maxed out my Honda Blackbird at 177mph, and then managed 168mph in the Z before I ran out of road. It was still pulling well and judging on how it felt I'm sure it could do past 180 given the right conditions. Mine wasn't stock though - basic upgrades only. :)

Hey Matt Only the usual mods - Induction/exhaust/chip/boost upgrade (far too much, but thankfully nothing went bang!). On the dyno it showed 332 @1.5bar, but their dyno was only accurate up to 300bhp, so everything over that was an 'estimate'! (God knows why they didn't tell me that before!)

 

It's a jap spec manual :D

Good stuff. It's not all about the speed though - having 180 rather than 160 doesn't make any difference in the real world - but the accelleration does! :D I tried it because I was just interested in what it would do...officer... :x:

Not sure yet - Pete's going to look at her today (or tomorrow) and let me know the damage. He took it for a spin and thought that it was running well, which should be good news as far as the pistons are concerned. She was smoking intermittently on the way down, so I'll have to wait to find out the root cause. Have you decided on your engine spec yet?

Yep, agree with the Macca. Had 160 out of mine against a cossie. If it hadn't been for the sh1te headlights would have cained his ass properly! A55 is a great road, especially on Anglesey although not for me poor Bro who got done at 130 in his Saab, although he can truly claim that Saab drivers are fighter pilots LMFAO!!!

I've done 165...on a track of course!

165 for me too, loadsa revs left and still pulling quite well, just ran out of road.......er, track, I mean.

Only done 135 in the Porsche...altho the front gets very light...
