Gaz, click "FAQs" from the blue bar at the top of the page. From there there's a link to a buying guide which should cover most of the things you want to look out for.

Hope that helps - by the way, any particular reason you're after an NA?

are you scared of the twin turbo?

steve

buy it and convert it and get around the insurance cost

And how would that "get around" the insurance cost? Buy an unmodified NA and putting a TT engine in might just count as a mod, don't you think?

And now some helpful advice.

Look at http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27174 for a list of insurers popular here...

An import is way more expensive to insure than a UK car. Nobody knows why - I think it's because they charge what the market will bear - nothing to do with risk. Barstewards.

It's to do with their costs - if they insure a jap import with comprehensive cover and then you crash the car, chances are they'll have to source the parts from japan - much more expensive than sourcing UK parts. That's what they think, anyway.

ROFL

Don't buy one! Get a villa in Spain, a donkey and some hookers for six months and a bag of crack and you will be much better off in the long run. Just an opinion.

All for the price of a NA? Dread to think what the hookers would look like...

True - so just about the same amout of fun as the non-turbo then! ;)

hi mate, give houghton insurance a try for a twin turbo, they do special 300zx club members discounts now, mine was 300 cheaper this year than any other, and thats with mods declared. (import)

try a search under insurance, i posted the number for someone on there a few weeks ago.

Let us know what you decide - seriously though, as ttop said, Houghton are very good - I'm with Tesco at the moment and although they are very much cheaper than the usual suspects (most of whom wouldn't touch me with a bargepole), I found that houghton are even more competative - I'm moving my policy to them when the renewal's due.
