Having spent yesterday morning replacing my 2 stubby short coolant pipes and changing the thermostat in order to fix my rapidly disappearing coolant - The left hand pipe had a nice big split in it so that all now seems in order - no leaks from the area anyway. I've still got a bubbling sound when I switch off the engine though - I'm hoping this is still a bit of air in the system which will work its way out as I drive the car this week.

Any thoughts?

Yep, probably just a bit of air in the system that you have yet to bleed out.

I also spent Saturday morning working to replace the stubby rubber hoses, only to discover when I got them off was that the hoses were OK, but the metal pipes from the head had rusted leaving pinholes and therefore causing the leak. Now I have a car in bits and am hoping to get the pipes ASAP ...

Ah - I actually decided against the pipes on the advice of Middlehursts - they are £19 each + vat.......part number is 14053M

I have the diagram they faxed over to me - as I was doing them I wish I'd ordered them even if to return them uneeded.....

The only tip I can give you is make sure those stubby pipes go back on ALL the way or else you wont be able to mate the engine block and the pipe faces together. I found a bit of fairy liquid worked a treat but it made my water frothy for a while!!!

Oh yeah - you will find it hard to get them from Nissan as they stop ordering today over Xmas and new year - Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

Full part number I have is 14053-F6511, I'm hoping that Mike Feeney can get them for me soon - fingers crossed for tomorrow, otherwise the Z stays in the garage and I have to use my mates Renault 19 for hurtling up and down the country over Xmas ....
