Ok,following up on Petes thread concerning the use of Earth Grounding wires i found the results at last of Turbo & High-Tech Performance mags test on these,in all 7 cars used, the last being a 350Z,all showed marked increase in performance/driveability etc etc, makes for good reading if your thinking of fitting this system:cool: :)

A max 4.8BHP improvement on a new car with supposed good quality earth point.

ย

Should be even more worthwhile on a 13yr old car :) I guess the effect is really shifting the whole BHP curve down the rev range slightly (to the left), giving marginally earlier power and higher peak power.

Seems a simple thing to DIY by making the leads up yourself as well. Couple of hours work at the most.

I would be equally interested in whether or not a Z engine would benefit from just cleaning up the earth connectors at the back on the plenum instead? Over the years aluminium oxide etc builds up and resuilts in a poor earth. IMO a small improvement in power would be had from going around with a bit of wet n dry on the 3 or 4 ring connectors that all earth at the rear of the engine.

ย

Its also my opinion that those earth-kits are far too OTT - using cable that will happily carry a thousand amps is a bit over kill, when I'm sure all the injectors are max-rpm only pull a few amps.

Just my 2p anyhow :)

Spoke to a guy at work and he took me throught the ins and outs of doing this to the Z, he seems to think it would be a great idea on the Z......

ย

He has been doing electronics, circuits and components since he was 15, he's now nearly 60 and can talk about everything and anything to do with electronics, old and modern....there isn't anything he doesn't know about.........

ย

I asked about an LED and he took me in-depth through the process of how it worked, nearly 45 minutes later I was filled with LED knowledge!! (I went to bed later that night and promptly forgot!!)

ย

Anyway, after all that waffling.........

ย

If he thinks it's a good idea, that's good enough for me and I'll be doing the grounding to my Z.

Matty.

LOL. Are yo sure you didn't help build the zx.
