Tesco's seem pretty reasonable, also try need to insure.com - my girlfriends starlet turbo's with them.

Do you have an import or uk model?

If its uk then theres probably a lot more companies you can try....

I've got a classic policy on mine with Norton, but most classic companies want you to be over 25 and have a second car.

Pete Shrimp and SRRAE are probably the ones to ask about this, as they're both under 25.

thanks

if you do a search you'll find loads of discussions on this...

Loads of different companies recomended by different people due to age, area, NCB etc.

I'm 23, living in London and Dorset Insurance was the best for me (modified Import TT)

How much are they raping you for mate?

I was getting very similar quotes, then dorset came along :)

£2.5K ouch, even after my little disagreemnt with the Federals about speed (a walking tour followed, they had better lawyers) mine never went about £1,200.

HeHe I laugh - £190. For me and the boss. HeHe

Fookin 'ell £190:eek:

Couple of questions.....

Who's that with?

Do they know its an import?

Are you allowed to do more than 4 miles a year?:D

just re-newed mine a few days ago and it went down nearly £200 so now pay £390 fully comp with mods on a classic car policy , only allowed to do 6k a year though , which is fine :)

Hi Adam - Houghton Insurance, they know it's an import, 3K miles per annum (but I can increase it). Classic car policy - 3rd car that sort of thing. Not an agreed value though but I would use AutoTrader / eBay to ident a replacement price if I stuff it into the scenary. I may look at geting agreed value next year.

Ohh I'm a young middle aged fart, and the car is stock.

B@stards!!

Houghton quoted me £425 with 5k mileage, 3rd car etc etc.

I'm fooking 30 FFS!! How old do you need to be before the b@stards lower your premiums????

I found it much cheaper to put the car in the mrs name and put me down as a named driver saved about 40% doing it this way

you have lost me why is it a bit dodgy

Try this

http://www.confused.com

They search ALL insurance companies and give you a quote then you can contact them direct.

I'm 30 quoted £339 fully comp on Jap import 300Zx TT with the wife on...no restrictions on mileage....protected NCB etc...

Quote was through http://www.confused.com but insured by Norwich Union Direct.

Nice

Because if they could prove that you are the main driver they could refuse claims and general badness. You know what they're like.

Otherwise everyone would transfer their car on their 90 year old grandmother's policy and be a named driver ;)

I'm 30 and Houghton wouldn't even quote me on my modded import as 2nd car. Yet there are other people on here in the same situation insured with them. Go figure. They make it up as they go along, they really do...

I think your right. Houghtons use Norton i beleive for classic policy.

Quoted me £750 for 7k limited mileage on a second car. I'm 29 and NCB since they day I passed my test at 17 ! 3 points on licence, garaged in nice rural postcode. I was expecting about £400.

Its an import with Tein suspension and 18's. No other mods.

I think they ask for your best quote so far and then under cut it by £20 or so.
